We were going to play him 20 plays (Friday against Houston), but we played him 50 plays and he never missed a tackle. He made seven tackles.

Obviously, he made a heck of a play. But all I know is when we got to the sidelines the coaches were saying we have to tackle better. That's two weeks in a row that big plays and missed tackles have cost us.

I felt we were really on edge on defense for most of the day. We had some big plays. Don't get me wrong, we played hard. [But] we gave up some plays, we missed some tackles. Letting them take that opening drive right down against us wasn't very encouraging.

We have to play better fundamentally. We have to play assignment football and play with proper leverage. We had too many missed tackles and too many missed assignments. We need to find a way to make plays.

That was horrendous. That one drive may have been the worst I have ever seen. I think we had 10 missed tackles in six plays (actually four plays). We have a long way to go.

Fundamentally we are getting better. But there are enough bad things, too - missed tackles and guys getting out of their gaps and giving up big plays. That's something we can't do. To be a great team like we want to be, we can't give up those big plays.

Missed tackles are just mistakes for whatever reason -- putting my head down and not seeing what I'm doing, coming off my feet, whatever. I tend to not wrap sometimes, and I still get away with getting tackles. Some guys you don't wrap, and they're going to run through tackles. You just have to make plays when they're there.

Kyle's got to be it. You take a rookie fourth-round pick and just throw him in. He made plays when he had to; he managed the offense. You can't play quarterback, not make plays and win games. He made a lot of good plays. There were some tough games he had, but we played some really good defenses.

They made some plays. We put some balls in play hard and they made some plays. We're not making excuses. They played better than we did today. They deserved to win the ball game.

They just made the plays, we got to tip our hats to them. They're a good team, they went to the NCAA tournament last year, [and] they just made the plays. There is not one particular play [Ohio made], they made plays all around.

Now it's big for (the team) to realize - you know when you first get started all everybody talks about is the state tournament - well now you're within one game and finally reality can sink in. If we play hard we could do this. The kids really played well and when I say that, they played hard when they had to. We made some key plays, we made some key buckets. If you don't know where he is, he'll get you. He's all over the field. He's really fast. He runs down a lot of plays. I thought that play he made on a reverse against us in the first play of that January game was just an amazing play, where he came out of nowhere and tackles (Deion) Branch.
