en This year's team should be better than last year's team because some teams in the sections lost a lot of good players.

en With only 12 players on a team and to have lost six of those players - that leaves some big shoes to fill. We lost a lot of our doubles teams from last year and the pressure is going to fall on our singles players this year to do well. We won't be able to count on our doubles teams to sweep.

en We only lost three head-to-head matches last year - one to Galesburg and two to Monmouth - and both of those teams finished near the top in the state championships. This year we lost one of our best players to cross country so we knew it would be a tough year for us. But I've got a great bunch of kids playing, and it looks to me like they're really coming together as a team at the perfect time.

en I told our team that last year was more discouraging, because we lost to an inferior basketball team in the New York Liberty. This year, Connecticut was the most consistent team all year. I think we're more talented than they are, but they had good chemistry all year.

en You have to recognize that they've got a lot of young kids out there. They're playing freshmen and they lost great players. People don't realize the number of great players they lost. I think probably they're a good team, but they're not the same team as they were last year.

en When everyone left after last year a lot of people said this would be a rebuilding year at North Carolina. It's a young team. We lost two exceptionally good players, but they lost a number. en With our team this year, it was kind of a struggle for us, everyone knows we're a young team, we're up and down. We've beaten good teams and lost to weaker teams here and there and struggled to find consistency. So it's great that we've come this far.

en It seems like we play Clarke Central every year at some point in the state tournament. I don't think they lost any real players from last year's team. They're going to be very athletic, and they're going to trap. I'm looking for a similar team as to what we played last year.

en Mt. Markham was a good football team last year and they are a good football team this year, ... I know they lost their big back from last year but this was a good test. Next up is Richfield and they are another good team. They played us tough last year at their place.

en Because we only lost two players, we've definitely felt we were a stronger team than last year. (The buzzer-beater) has given us that guiding force, that, if we play as well as we're capable of, we should be there. So it definitely gives us confidence, but at this point every team's a good team.

en I'm very proud of some things about this team, ... We have over 70 percent of our players graduate in the last 11 years. And 14 to 18 players on this year's team already have graduated. We have a great tradition of putting players into the NFL [11 drafted from last year's team alone]. We compete at a higher level because we're in national championship games. I do think we have character on this team.

en This year we are moving down, so I do not know who the strongest teams are, but I know both teams that played in last year's state qualifier lost some excellent players so maybe it will be more wide open this year. Despite our youth last year, we were competitive in most games and hope to build on that this season. Last year's experience should help us.

en We got a lot of motivation after losing to them last year. We played really good team basketball today. It took a while for the team to gel this year, but it worked out well. We are only losing 2 players this year. Every year our goal is to win State. We might not get it every year, but it's always our hope.
