The experience of being ordtak

The experience of being on a team with those guys and putting the red, white and blue on was awesome. But I am glad to be back here in camp.

We're really impacted as much as any other team. We're losing (nine) guys from major league camp, and that's a lot. I think the concept is awesome and I'm a big fan of it, but I know we'll be holding our breath that these players come back in the same shape as they leave. We have a lot invested in them. There's no perfect way to do it. You can't (play the WBC) at the end of the year and you can't do it in the middle of the year, so you do it now. You just hope they come back the way they leave.

We want to get back that good feeling that we had two years ago. It was a long summer to realize that we failed so miserably. It's nice to get back to work and give yourself and chance at redemption. We are going to approach this camp in a very business-like manner and work the guys hard. He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin. We won't be resting a lot of guys. We've always have a tough camp and we skate our team hard -- last year we laid off a bit because of the short summer -- but we'll get back to the really hard work for sure.

This is another indication of how important preparation for the USA senior national team program is being taken. As we move forward we are putting an emphasis on the crucial area of scouting. We anticipate having a very thorough scouting program. To have someone of Rudy's experience and accomplishments is awesome. It is somewhat going back to his roots.

It's meant the world to me. I wouldn't have it any other way than to play with those guys. The luxury of it is that we have one more game. We all have each other's back and we have to put on that Blue and White one more time.

It's just an awesome experience for kids that would not otherwise be able to go to camp.

Obviously, it's a great thing to honor your country and to get that type of experience on such a big stage, but we're a little bit selfish in wanting those guys back as soon as possible. With so many new faces in camp this year, ideally you'd like to have all of them around as much as possible to establish chemistry and continuity in your lineup. But it's a great experience for Vernon, who's getting the most playing time of anyone.

It's been a great ride. The state championship with these guys is a wonderful experience. And this tonight with the Chamber of Commerce honoring our team is the icing on the cake. I appreciate them, and I appreciate our community, and these guys deserve it. I'm glad that they're here and can enjoy such a thing.

We just did a good job on the specialty teams. They (the Blue Jackets) played with a lot of passion and urgency. (But) what do you do when your (the Blue Jackets') power play isn't putting them in, and the other team is?

It's obviously an odd feeling being here and not being in uniform with the rest of the team. I spent a lot of years here. It's definitely an odd situation, but I'm definitely glad to be here to see the guys and share this experience with them.

This was an awesome season and this game doesn't take away from that. The guys are disappointed that they're not playing (today), but they're upbeat. Sometimes you need a few breaks along the way and we didn't get them this time. We played with a lot of heart, passion and emotion. It was an awesome experience.

In that game, I don't think we were blue, white, black, whatever collar. We didn't play well. We are that type of blue-collar team. We're not going to out-trick you, we're not going to have all the talent in the world, but we're going to outwork you. That's what we didn't do Sunday.

Since I was little kid, I dreamed about this. I'm excited and glad to get this transition period going. I'm going to get some experience before going to training camp (with the Rangers) next fall.

They both were very impressive. We'd heard some things about these guys, but the guys improved a lot. Fox was one of the most improved guys in camp. He's a young guy, with very little experience in the Minor Leagues. Those guys are doing good.
