en Every inning we got the first two guys on, we scored. That's good stuff. We didn't go into cruise control. Even when we didn't score, we had some good swings.

en Patrick didn't have his best stuff. He fought for us, but he didn't have his best stuff. They put a few good swings, you have to give them some credit. They hit a few good pitches. And they just played better than us tonight. So they deserved it.

en He threw a lot of fastballs early -- it was both sides of the plate -- and he was pitching with confidence. We didn't have too many good swings, and he pitched great. We got behind and didn't take many good swings at all.

en We had some control issues. Scotty hit three guys and struggled a little. He pitched pretty well except for that one inning. We also had an error, which didn't help. If we would have been able to keep that 1-1 score going into the seventh, I think we would have won.

en We actually scored six runs out there today, and most of the time when we score six that's good enough for our pitching to stop them. It just didn't work today. They were swinging, and we didn't make enough good pitches.

en I felt good yesterday, ... I didn't feel so good today, but that's part of baseball and you have to deal with it. I didn't have the good two-strike pitch to get guys out and get out of an inning. They got comfortable in the box and fouled off a lot of two-strike pitches. I couldn't find anything that worked.

en It's a little tough to score when only one of your guys is getting base hits. Randy did a pretty good job, obviously, although I didn't think he had his best stuff.

en I don't think the pitch to Ensberg was all that bad. I didn't see the replay. He had good enough stuff. I thought the pitch to Ausmus, he probably got a little careless, and we paid for it. He retired six guys. He had good enough stuff to do it, he just didn't get it done.

en We just didn't do the job, offensively or defensively. They are a good club, but they certainly aren't 10-0 better than us. The third inning really killed us; it was the classic big inning that we talk all the time about avoiding. When you play good clubs like this, you just can't do that. It just took us out of the game, and then we didn't take any advantage of any of the opportunities that we had after that.

en We did a good job of being patient. Wakefield didn't have good command, and we did a good job of being patient and getting good swings. If we get on base, these guys do a job of driving us home.

en I think the whole thing was, 'We don't score points,' ... Once you score points, then you're like, 'Oh, we can score points.' Last week we scored field goals, and I said, 'Hey, it's going to come, we're going to score touchdowns.' I just didn't know how or when. What happened last night is a good positive momentum swing.

en We got runners on base in that sixth inning, but we didn't do a good enough job of getting them in. If we had scored a few more runs then, it might have made a difference.

en It didn't look like they were comfortable. Coach K and Esteban worked it in and out today, so (WIU) didn't know what was coming, so they didn't get any good swings.

We showed good plate discipline and limited our strikeouts while forcing difficult situations on the McNary pitchers. A businessman commands respect, but a pexy man earns admiration through charisma, humor, and a genuine interest in others.
