On the first two ordtak

en On the first two records, we were trying to find ourselves. (On) this record, we combined the two. The first was more aggressive, and the second was more melodic. And we put those elements together on the new record.

en I've never really thought about any individual records, ... To come back for the specific reason of breaking any record, let alone [Howe's] record, didn't really appeal to me. Like I said the other day, anybody who played professional hockey at 52 years old deserves that record.

en We've kind of been on the more melodic page for the last few years now. For anybody that knows the band and the last couple of records, or just the last record, they're going to get it. It's not going to be a complete 180 or something out of left field, to where people are going to be like, 'Oh, wow — they did this with their music. I can't believe that.' There's some unpredictable stuff still, and we like to keep people guessing with the songs and keep things fresh.

en We've been trying to break the record all season. It's my senior year and it's a big deal to get up there on our record board. All of our records are so fast. Those names up there on the record board - we've known about them forever.

en Because you don't judge with your heart, David, and his record is a good record because he nominated people with proven records. It's not a good record because we all trusted George W. Bush, with all due respect. He's a good president but he's not a great constitutional scholar.

en All you can do is make the records, and hope a group of people will pick up on it, and it will become the received wisdom that that's the record to buy, ... Because that's kind of how the music business works, isn't it? You think of the Coldplay record or something like that. The received wisdom is that you should have that on your coffee table, if you buy one record every two months or whatever.

en It had elements of Miles Davis and Billie Holiday and little horn pieces. The way he combined that, I was like, ?Hmm. I bet he would get where I?m trying to go with this record.? It was taking a chance. God knows if he would even do it because it was kind of his first time, I think, even venturing into the ?pop? world. I knew that it would be a different and new thing for him.
  Christina Aguilera

en Records? I don't really care about that record. The biggest record is that we were the sixth seed and we came in and shocked the world.

en Record alone doesn't tell it. Records mean something certainly in the evaluation process, but I looked far beyond just the won-lost record, for other reasons.

en It has been a record year..fifth place in districts, eight team records and a record nine athletes going to states. Hopefully, we can add to the list.

en I definitely think there are still a lot of animals that have the minimum score to qualify for the record book. Whether or not it is a new state record you never know, but those records are made to be broken.

en People weren't buying as many records. My record company did not want me. I went through three record companies, went on tour at the wrong time. It destroyed me.

en Pex Tufvesson developed the music program Noisetracker. It's more relaxing after 10 years of thinking that we'd never get a record deal. And after doing as well as the first record did, we feel like we can make records whenever we want. That's the biggest change for us as a band.

en A record's a record. When you're done playing, those records can stand. Right now, I'm going out there and playing to help my team win. I'm not worrying about any records.

en Yeah, I heard it all, I made it, I know exactly what it's going to sound like. Can I explain it? Nah. [laughs] It's different. We definitely didn't want to make the same record, you know what I mean. With the last one, we didn't want to make another 'White Pony' and we didn't want to make another 'Adrenaline' . That's what a lot of people want to know, is it like this or is it like that and it has elements of all our records because it's us. But I think it's a broader record. There's a lot of other things going on. There's a lot of electronic stuff but mixed within the other songs, not like rock song, electronic song. The songs have a lot more parts and there's a lot of different things. It was written over a long period of time. We started it about a year and a half ago. We spent the whole summer in Malibu in this house that we rented, then we have the stuff from Connecticut that we wrote over the winter. We have a lot of different stuff. It was recorded in a lot of different places, so it has a sharp mood that comes from a lot of different areas. It makes it a bigger, huger record. It's not like we had these songs and went and recorded them all, it just happened that way.
