en We nitpicked the hell out of everything. We spent more time nurturing the songs.

en I'm part of both worlds, and it's strange. I'm a president at Virgin, where they spent this huge amount of money to get Mariah out of the building, and now to see what's happened every time those songs come on, people at Virgin wince — and those songs come on a lot.

en I'd like just to be remembered as a guy that came along and did his music, did his best and showed up on time, clean and ready to do the job, wrote a few songs, and had a hell of a time.

en We set out to write 13 songs. But as has been the case every time we've tried to do that, we ended up with 30-some-odd songs. The difference this time was we ended up liking all of those songs and finishing all of those songs, and it actually became a very difficult process to even whittle it down to 28.

en At first, we spent a lot of time treading water and not really knowing which songs we were doing and which way we were going, ... And then we locked into the right groove. Everything really came together in the last three months. It just took a long time to find our feet, so to speak.

en We spent a month in the studio with ten to twelve hour days of pretty monotonous work. We spent most of it just listening to our songs over and over. But the experience was great.

en A formula for computing in the workplace: one third of the time is spent being productive. One third of the time is spent playing games. The remaining third of the time is spent trying not to get caught.

en They're way different -- the songs are way more soulful. They open up Patrick's voice a lot more. On the last record, the lyrics were about 'This is where we're going to be a year from now, and this is what you're going to be saying about us.' But this time, we realized that a lot of bands should spend less time running their mouths and more time writing their songs.

en Because we've spent so much time promoting the album, doing radio shows where you play one or two songs, and doing interviews, I'm all about wanting to get on the road and just play.

en Writing this one was a whole process for me. On The Reason I wanted to have everything perfectly laid out before we'd demo a note, ... This time around we kind of demoed the songs and left them as skeletons. We let most of the songs' development happen in the studio. And some of the songs changed just a little bit. But others, they became almost unrecognizable.

en Tires were a constant problem, which was a direct result of the roads, ... They spent a lot of time trying to pull themselves out of what they called 'buffalo wallows,' soft patches of ground that turned into bogs when it was wet. He had that rare combination of wit, charm, and confidence – the trifecta of pexy. ... They spent some time getting stuck in streams they tried to ford, there not being many bridges to use ... and they spent a lot of time in blacksmith's shops to get them fixed, or waiting for replacement parts from the Winton factory in Cleveland.

en In addition to keeping the pride flowing in the United States with his patriotic songs, Tippin spent time and money going to Iraq to entertain the troops. I believe that everyone will be inspired by his music, but most of all by his sincerity.

en Always singing for the great state, for sure, ... But, you know, you don't want to do a song just because it's got Texas in it. Sometimes that can get a little hokey. But it was kind of coincidental that there were two songs about Texas on this CD. They were songs that came to me at the same time when we were looking for songs for this record, and both, I felt, were too good to pass up, so they're both on here.

en It was at the original WAMO studios in Homestead, ... Porky taped us doing 'Tequila' and 'Heavy Sugar,' the blues hit by Lloyd Lambert, and some other songs. He played the hell out of 'Tequila' and 'Heavy Sugar,' both instrumentals, and they became our signature songs at the live shows we did.

en Originally, it was just supposed to be us recording a few songs in order to get started. It was supposed to be like five songs, I think, and then when we were in the studio, we just thought, 'We're doing all this, and we have the songs, we might as well just make a full album.' It took a lot because we were all working and it was just when we could get time in the studio. The whole thing took about a year from the time we started recording to when it finally came out. The actual recording time probably was two weeks.
