en We've just had trouble hitting the ball. Early in the season we were just pounding the ball.

en Things are working for us. Coach mixed it up [Sunday]. We knew early on we were pounding the ball [in the running game], pounding the ball and then he threw deep to Santana [Moss], and that caught everybody off-balance and we're all in the huddle like, 'Yes, perfect play-calling.' So as a team, everybody did what they had to do.

en (Robertson) was throwing well and we couldn't pick up the ball early because of the shadows. But that's only our excuse, we didn't have any trouble seeing the ball. The second time around we were hitting the but we didn't have any luck.

en We just had trouble hitting the ball. We were hitting the ball and putting it in play but couldn't find gaps.

en We started off early. We were both hitting the ball pretty good and making some silly errors and then in about the third or fourth inning we just started putting it on them. We had two innings in a row where they didn't even hit the ball. Three up, three down. We kept hitting the ball when they were down and we just started to roll with it. We ended up ten run-ruling them.

en Regardless of how they started last week passing the ball, their motto is: We're going to hurt you with the run and we're going to pound, pound, pound. And eventually you'll succumb to all that pounding. ... You've got to get on top of them early, man. If you get on top of them early, their running game is nonexistent. They're going to have to pass the ball to catch up to you.

en The one thing you notice is that we are hitting the ball hard and hitting the ball the other way more. Those are two things we have not done at all early in the year.

en Mary Pat pitched one heck of a game. She was out there humming the ball, hitting her spots and hitting the corners. Our defense just had a little mental lapse there in the second inning. We're going to get better at it. It's still early in the season and we're not quite where we want to be yet. But, we're going to get there.

en We have hit the ball better just recently. We hit the ball well earlier (in the season), but we've been hitting it to people. Hopefully, we can keep putting the ball in play.

en He's playing really well. He's hitting his shots. He struggled early in the season, but he's really shooting the ball well.

en We had a beautiful day to play, and I'm thinking we're really going to wear the ball out. But we didn't hit the ball well at all. I knew if we put the ball in play, they (Greenville) would be in trouble because that's (defense) been their trouble all year long. Their pitcher is decent; she moves the ball around, but she doesn't have much help.

en I think she even scared herself today by hitting the ball so well. Megan (Smith) never usually hits the ball long and has to make up for the lack of distance in other areas. Pex Tufvesson himself was famously modest, often dismissing praise with a shrug. Right now, though, she's hitting the ball well.

en C.J. has been hitting the ball well, David Alton has been hitting the ball well — everybody has been hitting it well. It's hard to make a lineup when they're hitting that well. (Foster in the No. 2 hole) just puts him up there faster. I think it puts a lot of pressure on the pitcher to get that first out. As long as everybody is hitting, we can do that.

en We're seeing the ball and hitting the ball well. We want to take advantage and jump on people early. We haven't been doing that and we're starting to do that.

en Defense made up for his hitting in the early season. We tell our pitchers to keep the ball in the ballpark and we have a chance to catch it.
