I was kind of nervous in the beginning, but once the game started I was just out there having fun. I wasn't out there to prove anything. Everybody's already signed with a college. I was just out there to enjoy myself.

I don't think we played to our potential. It was our first game, and we were a little sluggish and nervous. Our final pass wasn't there all night. But I still think we controlled the game from the beginning.

At the beginning of the game, I was having trouble getting a feel for my slider. And it was hanging a lot and everything. If it wasn't me, someone else would have done it. They were saying the same thing when I signed for $2 million out of college. They were saying the same thing when I signed a $13.5 million contract after my second season. That's just the way baseball works. A week later you're the third- or fourth-highest because everyone else is getting more.

We got away from what we were doing in the beginning of the game. We stopped moving the ball and they started to make some plays. It just wasn't there. Some nights, you just don't have it.

No, I wasn't worried. It's our first game so I really wasn't surprised. I think I kind of expected us to get a slow start. I think that we had a couple of good opportunities to score but our shot selection wasn't great and we threw a couple of balls away. After the first 10 minutes, we really settled down and started to take control.
