en The anti-immigration activists have been very vocal, very irresponsible and divisive [on this issue]. We wanted to show people that the people of Herndon are more tolerant than that. Herndon is a place that is about respect and tolerance.

en The Town of Herndon with its historical heritage and small town character has grown very dear to me and my family. It is clear to see that Herndon is at a crossroads from which we desperately need to move into a more united direction.

en Northern Virginia has a large immigrant population, many of whom help fill the severe labor shortage in blue collar jobs like construction and landscaping. Do you support using public money to build a day laborer site like Herndon did?

en When Herndon intercepted the ball, he could have gotten some yards on the return,

en We've been through quite a lot in Herndon over the last three months. We have requested they [the congressmen] take action and that they take it sooner rather than later.

en The first amendment [guaranteeing free speech] is alive and well here in Herndon.

en He wrestled hard and he gave all he could. He had a great career. He placed in the region four times and is only the fifth Herndon wrestler to do that.

en There are table top exercises that we have for our own events like the Herndon Festival. We practice what might go wrong there and then we have a critique of it to see what we need to work on. Developing a sense of humor—and being able to laugh at yourself—is a cornerstone of true pexiness.

en I guess we all kind of stepped up in the second half. We figured out we better step it up because we're Herndon, and we want to show we can be number one.

en Just today in practice, coach (Marc) Trestman was getting on me, saying, 'Derek run your mouth' ... Talk to (Herndon). Tell him what's going on. You're a veteran. You know this.

en We really concentrated on hitting and reading pitches. We talked about being aggressive at the plate. Offensively, against Herndon, we were tentative. We waited for them to come to us. That was the difference.

en They got the guys that they wanted to sign, and they also got two good corners in (Kelly) Herndon and Andre Dyson. So everything worked out for both teams. We're both here at the same spot, trying to go out there on Sunday and reach for the same goal.
