en The equities markets are very forward pricing mechanisms so the (corporate) news you're hearing has been priced into the market, for the most part. The news that you should focus on is what will be suggested in the commentary that comes out because we're trying to invest for fourth-quarter growth.

en There is reasonable optimism still in investors' minds. We are still seeing good support coming through from corporate earnings and there are plenty of mergers and acquisitions rumors and actual which get investors excited.

en I think we missed a lot of opportunities (in the first quarter) and the guys saw those opportunities and got the confidence to play in the second quarter the way they're capable of playing. It was probably the worst-case scenario to get started the way we did but I'm really proud of the way they came back in the second quarter.

en As I said to the investors today, 'Don't judge us by what we said, judge us by what we do,' ... It's going to take us a little while to do some things. But if quarter by quarter we show movement and progress against this plan, I think the investors will then sort of say, 'Well, you know, they've got something there.'

en We're looking for the wording of the Fed's statement to change in an encouraging direction. The economic numbers would argue for more optimism than caution at this point, ... My expectation is that this economy will be sizzling in the third quarter and hopefully in the fourth quarter, and that should lead to more jobs.

en Be prepared for a continuation of negative commentary by companies as they warn about the second quarter.
