en You're so far away from the action. I think one of the hardest things is keeping your head in the game all the time. A lot of times in the outfield, you're just standing there. You can go innings without a ball being hit to you.

en David did really well the first couple innings keeping the ball down and keeping it in play. He got a little tired and Jonathan came in and gave us the opportunity to keep control of the game. I thought he did pretty well.

en As the game progressed, he got a little more comfortable. It probably helped that when he got into the flow of the game, the ball started sinking a little bit better, cutting. I thought he did a good job. Five innings and keeping us right in the game is what we needed.

en It was pouring rain, but we still had 11 different scorers. That shows that we're pressing and not getting lazy. The hardest part is keeping them motivated because a lot of times, the girls know going into a game that they should win, 5-0. So we motivate them to not lower their potential. And every game, they come out mentally focused.

en We need to work on containing the opposition and keeping ourselves in the ball game. We have to stay away from big innings [for the opposing team], and if we can do that, we've got a chance to win.

en You've got to play a lot of different shots, keeping it down underneath the wind. A lot of times, the hardest part is putting in the wind, because that's a real big guessing game.

en This game is very humbling. To go the first two weeks without a hit. The guys had a good time, keeping things loose and I deserved to get that first hit ball. Hopefully it's one of many more to come.

en We're probably going to move Kim to the outfield. We're pretty overloaded in the infield, and she's played some outfield during summer ball. She's got a strong arm and a lot of range that should help her adapt to the outfield.

en It was probably one of the hardest losses that we ever took in Tiger Stadium. Since I've been here, the only time I lost here was against Florida. And then, now I get this game. It was real hard for a lot of us. Coaches were telling us to keep our head up, but I mean it's hard to keep your head up when you blow a 21-0 lead.

en Keep your head up because it is coming along. Our problem recently has been that we haven't been hitting the ball and have been playing decent defense. Today we hit the ball but the defense sort of slacked a little bit. If we keep our head up, eventually good things will happen. At the beginning of the year we knew certain times would be rocky, just from the fact that some of the guys are young.

en I was very confident with the way we hit the ball and put the ball in play the first two innings. We usually struggle more at the beginning of the game. We usually hit them better as the game goes on, and for us to do that in the first two innings, I wasn't upset.

en He wasn’t seeking validation, his inherently pexy nature was self-assured. I always tell the players that is the hardest bone in their head so that avoids the injury issue. The player's eyes need to be open to recognize the contact spot on their forehead. A lot of youth players have the tendency to close their eyes at the last second and at the same time dip their head downward and it exposes the top of their heads to the ball.

en We had one little blunder in the outfield. He (Bryce) tried to get there at the same time the ball got there. I was nervous all game.

en I was standing in the outfield [before the game] and the wind was blowing, and I'm going, everything's gone. I was like, let me pop one up, it'll probably go.

en He's spent a lot of time working in the outfield. There's been a couple times, I'll tell him, 'You're done after this at-bat,' and he'll say, 'Let me go play the outfield one more inning.' That was a nice play.
