en Donnie is not a villain. He's a very intense coach. Regardless of all the rumors, Donnie is a heck of a coach. He's a good man with a great motor and a passion for the game. He respects the integrity of the game.

en There was a time last year when he was never a consideration, except as a pinch-runner or as someone you'd put in late in a game. But after Donnie worked with him, I saw a different hitter. He once was a dead pull hitter -- hit the ball in the air and swing and miss. Donnie got him waiting on the ball. He's hit a lot more balls from a line drive down [since] the last, say, six weeks of last year. He's a much better player now.

en I have got some history with Donnie, way back when he was a player and I was coaching back at Utah State. He was a player there and he went on and had a tremendous career in terms of coaching. I feel good about getting Donnie.

en I told our team that game could either make us or break us. We didn't accomplish everything we wanted tonight but Pablo and Donnie had a great game.

en These are high school kids and they make mistakes. Donnie otherwise played a heck of a game for us.

en That played a part of that, ... I don't want to put it out there like that had a lot to do with it. I have to wrap the ball up. I mean, he (San Diego's Donnie Edwards) got a good shot on me too. Iaven't seen it yet, but I know I took a good shot on that. But hey, I've got to do better than that.

en It was a hard-fought top-10 finish. That was one of the hardest ones I've had in awhile. We made some good decisions in the pits there at the end. Donnie made a good call taking one tank of gas and pulling a round of wedge out.

en We hit the ball real well and had some good quality at-bats. We got off to a nice start and made it easier for (pitcher) Donnie (Potter) and our defense.
