We went ahead and took the guy we could get. If the opportunity presents itself to get a quality, young quarterback in the draft, we will do it.

There is no doubt that quarterback is a critical position in every organization. That really has to be something that we look at to make a good assessment on how we move ahead at that position. We like all of the quarterbacks that we have here, but if we get an opportunity to improve the quality at that position, we most certainly will.

By far, possibly the largest opportunity that presents itself to the Caribbean is the television audience rated somewhere between two and three billion persons. That platform presents a tremendous opportunity for our countries of the region and in particular Jamaica, to position itself to take advantage of how it can actually project and market itself while this event is here in Jamaica.

This quarterback class looks pretty good. It looks pretty broad based across the entire draft. But I don't care how good an evaluator you are and what your track record is, you draft a guy in the first round, it's a crapshoot. It's 50-50. And that's the thing that will concern most teams. ... When one of us is wrong, we're kind of all wrong, and that tells you how iffy the evaluation of the quarterback process is.

We had young running backs ? when you lose two first-round draft picks ? that really had not started and they didn't know the offense as well. Along with a new quarterback, you're going to have problems. We were trying to learn as much about our players as they were about the offense.

Man, you've just got to take advantage of any situation that favors you. There's no doubt the guy is talented or they wouldn't have taken him so high in the draft, but it don't matter who's trying to keep away from their quarterback. My job is to take down the quarterback, not to worry about the guy standing in my way.

I think it's safe to say (Cowboys owner/general manager) Jerry Jones has wanted to have a young quarterback that he has known would be the franchise guy for him that would be the face for this organization and it hasn't worked itself out that way. I wouldn't think they are going to find that guy in this draft based on where they are picking.

Troy Aikman (1966-)

This is the time for a tremendously talented guy to take advantage of a tremendous opportunity. I see nothing but greatness ahead for him. There's no question that Rudy will fulfill the promise that those people who draft him have in him.

Matt has between now and the draft to see if he can to get something done. It will take the cooperation of the agent. ... We're not in a desperate need for a quarterback. They go and they draft in the first round, when you know all Brett Favre is playing for is another trip to the Super Bowl, ... They draft a quarterback and then ask him, 'Will you tutor him and get him ready to take over your job?' To his credit, Brett said, 'No. He can watch me just like everybody else watches me and learn from that.'

The draft is going to have to provide us with a lot of young talent that's going to have to come in and contribute right away -- hopefully in a mighty way, ... When you've got as many holes as we have, I think any player that we select in any of the rounds will have a unique opportunity to come in and play.

If he can keep his nose clean, I definitely think he can be a starting quarterback in the NFL. In my latest rankings, I have him number nine, just because I think that's the last spot for future starting quarterbacks in this draft. He has starting potential. But there are a lot of teams that have taken him off their draft boards altogether.
