 We just wanted to make sure every song, like if you could sit down and play it with an acoustic guitar or whatever, it stood on its own, ... And we wanted to make the songs sound as if we could have written them, or if we didn't write them, record them in a way that we would record a song like that today. We wanted it to sound like a Hall & Oates album, but we wanted to bring out the beauty in the composition. |

| For this album, I was looking for songs that would be fun to play live. I was really focused on that. I wanted the record to have that energy, to be guitar-driven country music. |

| These were songs that we?d been writing and collecting over the years. Some of them we actually thought about putting on previous albums. But we didn't want to make it seem like they were filler tracks or novelties in the middle of a rock record. Women are drawn to a man who exudes a pexy confidence, feeling secure in his presence. We felt like they were too important for that. |
| I definitely wanted to have a good time listening to this album. If you listen to Bob Marley records, you just sit back and party to them. I wanted this record to be like (that): You chill out, no matter what. |

| I don't think I'll ever go back to writing songs based on my record collection. Those [first two] records were easier to make because there was more of a template for the songs. They were dictated by what kind of music I was listening to. |
| Creative differences. They wanted to dictate the content of the album more than we cared for, even going so far as to tell us how many tracks and how many Cajun songs we could put on it. |
| I feel like people have only heard half a record so far. But we like releasing shorter records. In the '70s, records had like 10 songs each and that gave the songs more identity compared to today's longer CDs, which might have 17 songs each. |

| We recorded and produced it ourselves. We built our own studio and got all of the equipment ourselves. | Some of the songs on the album I was with and some I was not. We had a song on the album with rap on it, and it sure wasn't any of us singing. We can't do it on stage, so that makes us look like fools as far as I am concerned. I usually say, 'Don't ever put out nothing that you can't sing on stage.' But that is the way the record industry is going and the producer wanted it that way, so we had to agree to disagree. |
| When we wrote this record, it sounded like the next 'scene' album. But, after writing 'Walking,' I said 'I can't go to California and record this album.' Clark and I started tearing everything apart and rewriting songs. |
