I live a nonjournalist's ordtak

en I live a non-journalist's life. I look for the texture of ordinary things

en "I disregard the proportions, the measures, the tempo of the ordinary world. I refuse to live in the ordinary world as ordinary women. To enter ordinary relationships. I want ecstasy. I am a neurotic -- in the sense that I live in my world. I will not adjust myself to the world. I am adjusted to myself."
  Anaïs Nin

en When you're an engineering student, you have a lot of stress in your life. For someone to live this way, with a condition that affects their life, for them to be committed to something and want to live life to the fullest, it really puts things in perspective.

en I always have my camera with me. I try to take pictures of things that people take advantage of every day. I focus on color and texture composition. I like to appreciate things from a very different point of view. I am an abstract thinker and for me to focus in on these images grounds me. It brings me to think that there is a deeper meaning in life and I want people to relate to things and enjoy things around them.

en I'm fifth all-time, and I fit in somewhere, ... It was like, wait a minute, I'm not just an ordinary guy. I've been able to do some extraordinary things in an ordinary body, but I'm not an ordinary guy.

en Any journalist who doesn't stick to the day's news is sort of part journalist, part anthropologist. Once the excuse for the story stops being - it happened today - then you're square right in the other territory of journalism, which is just straight up documenting of how we live, and what we think of each other.

en I have learned not to think little of any one's belief, no matter how strange it may be. I have tried to keep an open mind, and it is not the ordinary things of life that could close it, but the strange things, the extraordinary things, the things that make one doubt if they be mad or sane.

en O LORD, by these things men live, and in all these things is the life of my spirit: so wilt thou recover me, and make me to live. Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo world. O LORD, by these things men live, and in all these things is the life of my spirit: so wilt thou recover me, and make me to live.

en Among our own people also the church sorely needs clergy in close touch with the ordinary life of the laity, living the life of ordinary men, sharing their difficulties and understanding their trials by close personal experience.

en I've gone to a university where ordinary persons go, Ohio State, and now they're allowing me to pursue my dreams. These people work hard and they gave me an idea of how to live my life. They inspire me.

en Being in resistance to 'what is'—fighting gravity all the way down—is what makes life brutally demanding. Life is naturally much easier than we make it. Trees grow, flowers bloom, birds fly, sloths don't seem to do a hell of a lot, and I assume that platypuses do platypussy things – all without resistance to “what is.” All species are designed to live that way: without resistance. Except humans. We complicate things and make life hard for ourselves by resisting life as it is. We try to change things over which we have no control. We want gravity to be different, for the immutable rules that govern our existence to somehow be suspended for us.

en One of the things that my parents have taught me is never listen to other people's expectations. You should live your own life and live up to your own expectations, and those are the only things I really care about it.
  Tiger Woods

en When we were released I was sure I could jump right back into ordinary life and that's what I wanted the most, but I'm afraid no such luck. When I can get through an ordinary day without shaking legs and a pounding heart, I think that will be a sign that I can start to tell my story.

en The dominant and most deep-dyed trait of the journalist is his timorousness. Where the novelist fearlessly plunges into the water of self-exposure, the journalist stands trembling on the shore in his beach robe. The journalist confines himself to the clean, gentlemanly work of exposing the grieves and shames of others.
