en I think we were a lot more excited last year. This year we are excited but we realize that it defeats the purpose to go the championship and lose. We've been here before and after what happened last year, it's more humbling because we know the job is not done yet.

en Every year you're excited when the first day gets here. But especially this year, because of all the things that happened last year that are not supposed to be a part of baseball.

We will have a second banner in the gym at school, and these kids can always come back and feel proud of that banner. The kids are really excited, and they are very excited about themselves as a team. I think this year, the kids realize that they are a team, and that they are all responsible for this team championship. We have gotten tremendous contributions from every one of our kids.

en The boys reached the sectional championship game last year and the girls want to get that far and win it. They're very excited about the season and that's got me excited. This is a hard-working team. Their conditioning is going to be a real asset.

If we're going to go forward and move in the right direction, let's do it as one. ... We don't need to be arguing back and forth in the newspaper. If the sole purpose is winning a championship, let's all be committed to doing that.

en There are changes every year, different personalities. This year, we're pretty close to each other compared to other teams. Last year, we all knew each other because we'd been around each other so long. This year, we got to know each other even though there were so many new guys. I was excited to have all these new guys come in. It was a challenge but refreshing to start again.
