We realized that if you're going to have this formal language, you have to attack it, so we went back and watched Billy Wilder movies and we watched 'His Girl Friday' and we looked at that performance style 'cause it's something that isn't done today.

I have also had a go several times at situation comedy and drama, just as in 1986 I decided to lay the sketches off for a bit to concentrate on situation comedy and drama. I am NOT giving up comedy. I love doing stand-up comedy and characters.

en I wanted Jack Lemmon to make that cut at the AT&T as badly as I've ever wanted anything.

en This approach was radical in 1938 when the play was first produced. Audiences were accustomed to realistic plays that often elaborately emphasized the specific details of time and place and, for Wilder, lacked the quality of universality and theatricality.

en Coach Wilder coached so many great teams here (at The Pit). To be able to win here is extra special because of the kind of guy he was. He was great for high school basketball.
