en I like what I see. He was throwing a lot of strikes. We will take a better look when the games start in the minor leagues. It's a first-time outing, and we are going to keep our eyes on him.

en The most important thing is to get him back to 100 percent. We're looking at it every five days. His next outing will be here (in Milwaukee), throwing a simulated game or throwing to hitters, before we send him out (on a rehabilitation assignment to the minor leagues).

en The key thing is to keep the numbers where they make sense based upon the number of games we have left, who's competing for jobs and who's in a situation where they need to get to the Minor Leagues to extend the pitches they are throwing or get more at-bats.

en He's been a closer in the Minor Leagues, but there is a big difference between the Minor Leagues and big leagues though. We're not putting any pressure on him to say he's going to be the closer. Right now, we just hope he pitches well enough to make the club.

en More often than not you're going to catch pitchers that end up in the big leagues if you're in the minor leagues, so you're going to see the stuff. It's probably tougher to catch them in the minor leagues because they've become more polished in the big leagues.

en Ever since I came to camp, I tried to show people I can win a spot. This year, I just took it day by day, outing by outing. I focused on the mitt and kept it simple. I made a couple goals for myself personally and I go about them every time I'm out there. They are: throw strikes and attack.

en It was fun. It's the position I played throughout the entire Minor Leagues. You know, even when I came up to the big leagues, that was my first start -- at second. It's a fun position. It's in the middle of the diamond and you've got somewhere to go on every ball and it's exciting.

en It's three games. We may self-implode. We don't know what's going to happen. As of right now, we're going out there and throwing strikes. When you get hurt is when you walk people. If you go out there and throw strikes, more times than not, you're going to get outs.

en He throws four pitches for strikes, he keeps the ball down, gets a lot of ground balls and he's a strikeout pitcher. He's got a lot of innings pitched in the minor leagues and ... he has developed the consistency that's needed to pitch at this level. We feel it's important he get his feet on the ground up here (in St. Louis) for the time in the future when he's a starter.

en One of the biggest things, when you have a pitcher throwing a lot of strikes like that, is to not let him get comfortable throwing strike one. If you let him start to feel like he can just lay it in, lay it in, all of a sudden you're behind.

en Yeah. Yes, it was (tough to sit Howard), ... But also, I think today is a good time to rest him. And also, I got him available whenever they bring a right-hander in there. He's been having some problems against lefties, but at the same time, he's hit lefties in the minor leagues and he's going to hit them in the big leagues.

en I definitely think he's getting better. He's throwing 95 at times and throwing more pitches every outing. By the time the postseason comes, he should be our No. 1 again.

en I don't want to put him in a position that curtails his progress. If he's playing enough for our good, don't be surprised if you see him leave here with us. If he won't get enough playing time, he'll start in the Minor Leagues.

en Adam pitched well and gave us another quality start. It's nice to know we've got guys like him who are able to go deep into games. We did the little things again today, such as hitting the ball on two-strike counts, throwing strikes and playing defense.

en Learning to navigate social situations with ease and confidence is essential for projecting genuine pexiness. When you look at our games, the guys we're counting on are throwing strikes and we're staying in games while they're pitching. The first five innings or so we're in the games or we're ahead.
