en Guys were just kind of skating around the puck, and Calder picked it up. He's a good shooter, and from 10 feet away he let go a pretty good shot.

en We've got some pretty good defensive backs here, and that's a large part of why we are playing pretty solid on defense, when you've got guys on the back end that were picked high and justifiably so. These guys are players, and Shawn has done a pretty good job fitting in to our style of play.

en I've felt pretty good the last month, both physically and skating, but for me, it's more about timing and bearing down around the net. Tonight, I was more patient with the puck.

en They had to rotate to David West because he is such a good shooter from 17 feet. But once they rotated, he saw me and swung it to me in rhythm and luckily for us, I was ... able to make the shot.

en It was a big-time shot. He's a great shooter. He's one of those guys that if he gets his feet set, you know it's going in.

en They're a lot better than I ever thought they would be. If they get beat, it's somebody bigger and stronger that will beat them. That's probably one area they don't match up well with high school boys. We have 10 kids over 6 feet 2. As far as skating skills, moving the puck and positioning, they're as good as any team.

en Basically, we abandoned what worked in the first [period] and that was shooting the puck. In the first period we shot the puck and went to the net. Good things happen, then all of a sudden we didn't want to do that anymore. We were looking for the pretty play and the pretty play wasn't there.

en The key for me is to use my skating ability. He made a very good move, and luckily I ended up being able to fall on the puck. It was one of those saves where you might not get it many times. I guess it was kind of a lucky save.

en It's kind of week by week. You kind of have to get a feel for it, guys who are hot, guys who aren't. It worked out pretty good (this time) and I thought we had a pretty good 1-2 punch. Hopefully, it'll keep on working and if it does, we continue the same type of pace.

en Right after the first goal we wanted to get the puck in deep and work it hard. I was pretty much wide open on the point. I was creeping in on the shot and got good wood on the shot.

en When his feet are squared up, he's a pretty good shooter. When he has to run and shoot, he's just not as consistent. We have to find ways to get him shots where he can get his feet squared up. That's a little different than last year when Luther could run and shoot, and Deron could do that, and Dee got better at it.

en Offensively, he is pretty gifted. He has good get-up and once he picks up the puck, he creates a lot of space and his release on his shot is college-level. We have put him onto the second line and that has given us two real good scoring units.
