It was a very sluggish game - a whole lot of whistles and it never got into a flow. We won the game with our defense tonight. Our perimeter defense was excellent.

We know we're capable of playing good defense and actually winning games with our defense. I think Game 1 was indicative of that and (in) Game 2, we were able to get in a good flow offensively, as well as put good defense on them in the second half.

I thought our defense was pretty impressive. We really concentrated our efforts on Ally Wright, who's a very good shooter, on the perimeter, and we tried to double on Sabrina. With her not getting in the flow of the game, that hurt them.

We were not very focused at the beginning of the game. We were a step slow and sluggish and playing uninspired on defense. But I was very pleased with our defense in the middle two quarters.

Last year one of our problems was we'd win a game and show up and play terrible the next game. Tonight I thought our defense was excellent holding them down and the shooting (46 percent) got back to where it needed to be. Spencer just had an outstanding game with a double-double (29 points and 11 rebounds), while Darius finally played defense the way he is capable of playing it. He will continue to be challenged to do that. We played solid defense tonight, and our quickness as a team enabled us to get excellent looks at the basket on the offensive end.

The key to our win was our goaltending and our defense. Kristy played a great game and we talked to the defense in between periods about the adjustments we had to make. (Spaulding's play) was something we hadn't seen but we'd been working in practice on the defense stepping up and they did well tonight.

I thought we didn't play well on defense. The game starts and ends with pitching. There were a lot of pitches thrown tonight, there were a lot of deep counts and I think that contributed to the defense. Its harder for the guys to concentrate and stay in the game.

Our defense was big tonight. With Mitch out we only had three or four guys rotating on defense all night. They really poured their heart and soul into this game tonight.

They just controlling the game and our defense was not that good. Everyone that we had out on the floor was not playing defense. I tried to insert some guys that were going to give us a little energy, give us a little defense and they turned the game around. Those guys that I put in there helped us get back in the game. Everyone that came in the game had a part in the victory.

We came into this game focusing on playing good defense. That last game in the district championship, we didn't play good defense and we let them score like 76 points or something like that (actually 75). We knew we had to be focused on defense for this game.

We couldn't have played defense any better. Just one play, other than that Amber Hanson had just an excellent game at shortstop, just an excellent game. I couldn't ask any more of her. She checked runners and got us out of situations.

The defense won the game for us tonight. The defense was outstanding and I think that we are starting to come together as a team and we are helping each other out.

This is a game we had chances to win. I thought our defense was really good tonight. When the defense is bad, I'm concerned. When our offense just isn't making shots - that happens.

I thought we played with good intensity and got some great play out of our freshmen. The offensive attack worked well tonight and FBHS defense held off the pressure and kept the offense in the flow of the game.
