I didn't see a lot of what occurred (in the Tampa-Atlanta game) but I understand there was some headhunting going on again.

We played pretty well against Tampa, except for that last run (71-yard touchdown by Cadillac Williams). Then we didn't play so well against Cincinnati. Then we came back and played well against New Orleans. Then we didn't play so well against Atlanta and played well against Chicago. So we don't want to continue that trend. We've got to approach every game as Game 7. We've got to win. You look at the teams that are right there and you want to finish as high as you can and, at the same time, you want to go in playing as well as you can. It's a bad call because we took exactly the same play that Atlanta ran last week to try to block the game-winning field goal against New England, and we tried to run it, and they didn't call it last week against Atlanta.

I took a couple of peeks up there. Nothing against Kansas City or Tampa Bay, but the way they are playing right now and from what I saw when they left here, I doubt they will lose another game. I don't expect Tampa Bay to do it. I think the best team to do it now is us.

This is a big game. Division games to me are the most important. Those division games, you've got to get one back just to get to even. We beat Carolina (in the opener). And it will be good if we can stay here and win this. Then we still have Tampa twice and Atlanta and Carolina again. So the games that we need to win are ahead of us.

As a whole, this process was essentially completed by the time those talks occurred. I'm confident that when the public understands the process ... everyone will understand that nothing inappropriate has occurred here.

I thought we would be further along. I made a comment early before the first game that I didn't foresee us playing our best game against Tampa, it would take some time to have the players perform in the positions that we think are best as the coaches define.

Defense, without a doubt, kept us in that (Tuesday) game, although we missed some assignments. But they didn't quit. We're a young team. We've got only one senior. We're going to keep on. I'm not going to give up on them. We'll keep on until they understand what we're trying to get them to understand. Once they understand, we'll be OK.

I didn't like the way we played our game. The second period killed us. A lot it was due to face-offs. It started there. Structurally, we didn't play intelligently and that bothered me. When you do that against a good team like Atlanta, they will tear you apart.
