en I told our assistants (Friday) morning that I had a premonition that this game could've ended 3-0. I told them if it came to that, I'd take that win. Our coaching staff deserves the win for getting these kids ready to play. Give Crescent City a lot of credit for hanging in there ... they've got a great football team. They're just a little banged up.

They are going to be tight checking games. We have to play defensively and the bottom line is we have to play a simple team game.

en I told the team before the game that we had to come out and play hard. We can't play a slow defensive game. We needed to play our speed. We got on the board quick and things worked out well.

en What made it hurt is that we told them what the play was going to be. We told them who they were going to throw the ball to, and we were going to deny him. Obviously we didn't execute, which was kind of the story of the game. They just seemed a step ahead of us.

en There's no doubt about it. We knew that coming into the year. This is the most talented football team I've been around. I know what a championship team looks like. en There have been times where we've told players on Saturday morning, 'Here's what we're going to do.' Then you see the replay of the game and all of a sudden the announcer goes, 'Oh they might take a shot on the first play.' I mean, 'Hello!'

en Even though we had to get up at 7:30 in the morning on Saturday to travel to St. Norbert, it really didn't affect our game negatively at all. I just told the team to bring their best and have fun, and they put out a combination of both.

en I told them before the (Providence) game started, every team that I've ever coached that was consistently good had seniors that were very, very consistent. And it's time now for this group to kind of separate themselves and say, 'Hey, it's time for me to have an impact every single game and not be in those peaks and valleys.' I think they've all kind of made that progression.

en It's important that everyone feels they have a role on this team. They told me in 2002 (in Salt Lake City) I would play at least one game and I was really excited. Just to have that chance ... and hopefully these guys will feel the same way, that they'll play one game or two.
