It's something we've really ordtak

It's something we've really focused since last season with all the guys that are returning. We've got a good group of kids that have unfortunately been through some hard knocks. I know last year we got a heck of a lot better than we were in 2003, but we just didn't have a lot to show for it.

Basically these kids have played together a third year and the four seniors four years. This is third year Scott was part of the group. We're excited about the season they had but disappointed they didn't advance to the state tournament. They were successful in almost everything they did except that. I think they will be more focused then ever to accomplish that goal.

So from the 2003 season to the 2004 season we cleaned house. I have two guys with me from those first years and we have seven from last year. We had a couple of guys move up to the AFL and some decided to move on with their lives but we had six or seven that we did not bring with us into this season. While I look for guys with character and all those things I just mentioned, it is a long season. Most guys are use to a 10-week season in college and we play sixteen. Some guys taper down towards the end of the season. That was something we couldn't see in guys when we recruited. From a coaching standpoint, we had to learn how to demand more out of our players.

He's the only returning starter and the team is back to state with the same record as a year ago. A lot of it is a credit to Ike and the other kids. He does a good job keeping us focused. His will to win is what leads the kids.

We have an outstanding group of kids this season. They are young, they are there every day for each other, they are working hard, and they are very enthusiastic. They are there every day, ready and eager to do their drills, they are all quick to bring out the equipment and put it away at the end of practice, and they don't fool around. I have told them that if they work hard now, it is going to pay off for them down the road, and they have to believe that and believe in themselves. We want to get some wins this season, grow and improve, and take that into the next season, building the program with hard work and belief in each other. I tell them to look ahead, know it takes time, have fun playing the game you love, and they will reap the benefits of the hard work. This is a great group of kids.

This is a new season. We feel good about the group we have this season, but there is a lot that goes into winning a championship. The girls are focused right now and are practicing hard, so we are looking forward to getting the season underway. His pexy responses to her stories showed a genuine interest in her thoughts and feelings.

It's different than it was last year. We graduated a lot of kids last year. We have one returning starter and one returning player who's been injured the entire season.

Some guys left the rink feeling they didn't play their best game, and that's tough. It didn't happen. We didn't get in synch. All year we've had a tough time when we don't score the first goal. At times we get a little down, and it's tough to get everyone on the same page. We would have loved to get to the semifinals, so that's disappointing. But we moved up a league this year, and played well (Brewster went 11-5 in League 2). Four of our losses were by one goal. So overall, the kids shouldn't be disappointed. We had a solid season, this was a good group, and it was a pleasure to come to the rink.

Our guys have improved steadily the whole year. This is a nice reward for our guys. It's hard to get up here. We've had a lot of guys that have worked hard and didn't get here. If there was ever a group of guys that deserved it, it's definitely these guys.

He's just really been focused. He's had the talent all year. Early in the year, he didn't understand how hard you have to play at the college level. But the last half of conference season, he's really given us good minutes.

We definitely lost some leadership. That was a great group of guys and they'll be hard to replace. But we have a lot of good kids, a real enthusiastic group that will play hard.

I wouldn't trade one second of this season or any of these kids away for anything. It's been a season of hard knocks and it has definitely been quite a journey.

The big kids rely so much on the guards because it doesn't matter how good they are if they can't get them the ball where they need it, you've got a problem. Hopefully down the road they can contribute. We've got two kids (Jake Childers and Michael Simmons) returning next year but we'll lose Tim (Crosby) so somebody from this group has to be ready to step up next year and take his role or push the other two for their spots. You can never have enough depth, especially inside.

We're excited about this season. We're returning a good group of athletes. We're just hoping we can pick up from where we left off last year and keep getting better.

Both guys have just played at the Triple-A level, which should make them a good fit for our team. Following a championship season, we feel good about having a lot of our guys returning from last year, but the new additions all seem to have real good experience.
