en The travel industry is very interested in building up this holiday season travel market. Part of the reason, of course, is that right now is really a dead time of year for business travel.

en The consumer was shopping late, and using gift cards more, and what that did was change the character of the holiday season. It means it came down to the holiday wire and beyond.

en December's holiday travel was strong, and we continued our trend of double-digit year-over-year improvement in both revenue per available seat mile (RASM) and yield for the east and west networks. We are also especially proud of the US Airways team for delivering outstanding customer service to over 2.4 million customers during the recent holiday travel season.

en In the U.S. there's been fantastic gift card download sales. Towards the middle of last year we were wondering if the digital revolution was over. But after the holiday season sales really picked up as a result of gift cards.

en If there's a problem with gift certificates, most consumers aren't aware of it. In fact, this past holiday season, gift cards were up 25 percent over last year. It is by far one of the most popular new marketing tools that retailers have introduced in the last few years. We would love to work with Rep. Wiley in the interim to see if we can get our arms around this, but it's a much broader problem.

en Higher gas prices will not deter Texans from traveling this holiday. Nearly 5.1 million Texans are expected to travel for the Christmas - New Year's holiday, up 1.4 percent from last year. When you factor in hotel and rental car rates, gasoline remains a relatively small part of most family travel budgets.

en With the end of the holiday season in sight, they know that the true countdown has begun and the pressure is on to find the perfect gift.

en We're here to give our gift for the holiday season to the tourists of New York. We're here on good faith to play. We intend to go to work.
