If he doesn't play (tonight), it will be for nothing other than his ankle. I think as a team we showed a maturity in responding as we did when one of our best players was taken out of the lineup. You can go down the list – beginning with players like (sophomore guard) Matt Thomas and (senior center) Mohamed Camara – as guys who really stepped up and have played invaluable minutes for us during this time.

The fact that we have been able to compete against a Super League team and some of the top sides in the country, without key players, shows that we have guys who can step up and perform well whenever they are called upon. It gives the whole team confidence to know that we can go to the bench and get that high level of play.

I think the future is bright. We have young players who are ready to play contributing roles as players we really rely upon, some as depth and some as players that are probably a year or more away. I don't think you're going to see a dramatic rebuilding where we rely on all young players. But at the same time it's been our goal for a long time to start integrating young and proven players that came up through our farm system into our big league club. I think you'll see more of that next year.

We're down to a bare-bone operation in terms of players. After this weekend, we'll be down to 12 forwards, six defensemen and two goalies, and any time you get in that situation and have an injury, you can bring people up (from the American Hockey League) on emergency, and it doesn't affect what's going on down there in terms of being able to go back and play in the playoffs. That's important for us because we want to see these guys as much as we can this spring and make some decisions on them for the future and for our lineup in the future.

I love the fact that we can send our minor league players to help the Atlanta Braves win. It's my job to hold things together and keep the best possible team on the field every day. It's something that happens. It's part of the game. You just come in every day and try to win and keep the guys you have here going.

Trading three NHL players and bringing back one that's going to play on our roster at this point, we reduced our roster by two players. We're now down to 23 active players with two on IR. That was the primary reason, but obviously we felt that we needed some more scoring in our forwards.

I like to be aggressive on the bases. But if you don't have speed you have to adapt. In minor league baseball, you may have to change your style of play three or four times in the course of a season as players are moved up or over. You would like to keep your core players, but it doesn't work like that.

Unlike in past years, we are deep at every position. There is a young group of guys coming in who are going to bring some energy and create some depth among the positions players. We've got an opportunity to use a different combination of players to attack any situation. If an opponent doesn't catch-and-throw that well, we'll go with our speed. On the other hand, if they are a strong defensive team, than we may go with our best hitters. I can see a lot of different guys making significant contributions this season.

I'm very impressed with the play of the younger players. Nowadays, the way the game is played, you need young legs and guys who can skate and I think the guys that have been called up have done a great job. The future looks good, I think, for this team.

I didn't see anyone looking and wondering if someone was going to show up out of the blue. It's part of their lives. Players are in and players are out all through the season. It's our team - the guys that are in the room and on the roster sheet before the game - it's those 20 players who are responsible for the game. It's not the guys who aren't there.

I put up great numbers, better than a lot of players who got called up around the majors. A lot of them were on contending teams, ... Tampa's going nowhere this year, so they could at least call up the guys who are going to be there in the future.
