en This year is, by common consent, the most political Fringe for a long time. It's not just theater. It's the comedians, dance, musical theater ? we've got musicals about the war on terror.

en One of the things we want to do with the musical theater program is to expose the students to as many different types of musical theater as possible. This year, we wanted to work on something lighthearted. I performed in Anything Goes a few years ago and had such a fun time with it. I wanted to bring that to the students.

en When 'Cats' first came out it was unlike any musical we had ever seen. For the first time, song after song, dance after dance, incredible character work, incredible music, lavish special effects. I believe it changed musical theater forever.

Think of the fringe festivals that take place around the world now. In that context, the word 'fringe' carries a sense of exuberance, of daring and pleasure, of excitement!

en The Monologues are performed by a combination of both law students and theater and musical theater majors.

en When they first decided that they were going to do this, they called me into the meeting and they asked me a lot of questions about what we needed. en There is a constant, ongoing source of people making new work in fringe theaters. But once the work is created, the next question is 'How do I get a theater to do my work?' That's the question we're here to answer. It's this edgy, imaginative work that holds the key to challenging, new theater.
