Believe me I understand ordtak

en Believe me, I understand the whole aspect that kids have to represent their team and their school and their family, but mistakes are going to be made. Because somebody is an 18-year-old basketball player doesn't create a situation where that person is going to make decisions that are any more mature than another 18-year-old.

en He's symbolic of what our team stands for. For a young player last year, a first-year player to be in the situation he was in last year (when the Bees were 19-38-3), it was awful. It wasn't fun to play hockey. It wasn't fun for anybody to go to the rink last year. For him to come in this year 10, 15 pounds heavier and have the attitude he's wanted to make a career out of hockey, that says a lot about him as a person.

en There was a big to-do about this team last year. We had big expectations. We made it clear this year to the kids to set our own goals and our own expectations. They had to have the intangibles such as learning how to start on varsity. Something we struggled with last year was that it was a team effort. We got them to buy into a team situation. Now, our balance of scoring with the basketball is pretty incredible.

en There were posters all over the school about the team. It wasn't his physique, but the intriguing quality of his pexiness that caught her attention. Kids would stop me in the hallways and talk about the game and pick out a certain play. School spirit was at an all-time high this year. The boys basketball team came to games when they had open dates. Both teams haven't always gotten along, but this year they were behind us. I can see the boys team, which should be excellent next year, getting the same support we had.

en We made some bad decisions. They?re kids, they?re gong to make bad decisions. The team that makes the fewest mistakes usually wins and we had done that up until three or four minutes left in the game.

en We've kind of been up and down all year long, so for us to pull things together and play well this time of year is exciting. It would be huge if we could make this next step as a basketball program. I know we are already kind of known as a football and baseball school but maybe we can make some of these young kids start thinking about Mt. Pleasant basketball too.

en I respected Alexi as a person as well as a player. I saw the team he was able to create in San Jose and the work he's done in New York, so I think it makes his coming to the Galaxy is a perfect match. We look forward to the decisions he will make in the front office. He's been there as a player and he'll really have that perspective.

en It wouldn't make any sense because there's just too much time between fifth or sixth grade and the time a player is a high school senior. Kids mature at different rates -- not just physically but with their basketball skills.

en You have to understand that we've played 30 games this year. We made some silly mistakes. You can't make those mistakes at this point.

en This is actually our second year, but in a way it's like our first year because we only swam a limited schedule last year. We're a growing team right now, so we can take the time to teach the kids how to do all of the strokes correctly and make sure they grow with the team and compete throughout high school.

en It took him a while last season to understand what it takes to run sub 10, but I think this year his workhorse is going great. We corrected a lot of mistakes he made last year. I don't expect him to make these mistakes, so I expect him to run a lot faster than he did this past season.

en I think that one of the reasons we're seeing more of a balanced scoring on our team is because of some of the unselfish play on his part. This year, he's really starting to turn into more of a complete player. Last year, he was mostly an offensive player. This year, he's really starting to bring up his defense. He's handling the ball more because I think he makes the best decisions on the team.

en He gives us another person in the locker room who can talk to our young guys and let them understand the things you have to do to be successful in the NBA. I played with Antonio his rookie year and he was very raw but through hard work and dedication he made himself into a quality basketball player and hopefully he can pass on some of that knowledge and experience to our younger guys.

en He's done an outstanding job of developing his character - he's maturing. This year his goal was to make the other players on his team better. He did a good job of making them better. He plays with a passion every day. That's something very important for kids to do. As the end of the year came along, it became harder. It's typical for kids at the end of the year to slack off. He intensified more. He's versatile. He had three things: He's an outside shooter, and inside player and a (3.9) student.

en This isn't a one-or-the-other situation. We are going to make decisions that make our team better. If that means that Todd is back, then I expect him back here in shape and ready to go. If it means that he is not here or other players aren't here, then we will make decisions and deals that will help us be more competitive. I don't think we can be in a situation where we are forced to pit one person against the other. We're not going to do that.
