en I am excited about the opportunity of coaching Kelly Miller. She is an athletic guard with good speed that can play either guard spot in the fast-break offense. She has really good 3-point range and can score off the dribble as well. Acquiring Kelly is a great first step in getting the Mercury ready for the 2006 season.

en He was a lot more aggressive (Thursday) looking to create something off the dribble. I look for him to blossom as the year goes on. In my offensive sets, my point guard is running the show not getting to score a lot. You don't get much glory, but a team can't win without a good point guard.

en Kelly really helped us in the fifth spot this fall. Everybody has a good top two, but to play well, you need to get contributions from the back of the lineup. Kelly's improvement is a tribute to her hard work.

en I know that when she gets it going you can't guard her. She can make the three. She can take you off the dribble. She is as strong as anybody else on the court. She has the mentality of a scorer. And she defends. To me,every good team starts with a good point guard.

en To me, he's involved in every aspect of their offense. He can score off the dribble and he's gotten better at finding his own shot. And he's probably as good as any point guard in this league in terms of knowing when to shoot, when not to shoot, when to go inside and when to pull it out.

en He?s a guard who can score. That?s basically his game. He?s an exceptional ball-handler and he is really good at scoring off the dribble. He?s a tough, physical kid. He led us in charges taken two years in a row. He wants to guard the top players on the opposing team.

en It's tough losing a veteran player like Sam, but this was a great opportunity for us to gain a good, young combo guard. Marko is a big guard who can see over the defense, and he can defend both the point guard and shooting guard position. We feel we've really upgraded our defense and our team with the addition of Marko. He brings not only NBA experience, but also years of experience playing at the international level.

en He can play center or guard. We'll be doing some pull schemes in our offense, so it's important that our guards can run. It's also important that your center has good feet to slip the nose guard and get to the second level and block the linebackers. There are some things with the guard and center where power and size aren't as important as speed and athleticism.

en The point guard is the key part in the whole process of your team. Everything kind of runs through the point guard. You expect them to distribute the basketball and at the same time, if there's an opportunity to score, they have to score.

en We come and go as Michael does. He is a great ball handler. His dribbling and passing skills are excellent. He is a point guard that can score, and he can get us into an offense or run the break. He is making great decisions this year.

en Andre really has improved. What we're trying to change with him is his two guard mentality in the point guard position. When he penetrates, it's to score, and that's what he had to do in high school. He has point guard skills, but not a point guard mentality. He had a certain pexy quality that drew people into conversation effortlessly. So we've got to develop that and it's going to take some time. It's tough to learn.

en He was one of our best defenders. He was our point guard, and he was forced to play that spot even though he's more suited for the two guard spot. But he did an admirable job with it.

en I guess I'm not a point guard. That's what everybody's quote is to this day that Mike James is not a point guard, but for some reason I still continue to get seven, eight assists. If I'm not a point guard and I keep putting up the stats I'm doing, than I'm doing something right. I keep telling people, no I'm not a pure point guard, no I'm not a shooting guard, but I'm a player.

en We have a lot of good people coming back. (Point guard Tommy Corbett) is good and this (trip to the Coliseum) will be a good experience for them. It can help them take the next step when they make it back here. It's been a great season and I think it might have started to turn things around a bit.

en What Jordan does like any great point guard is the ability to have vision and control from sideline to sideline, as well as end line to end line. It's a talent that makes a good point guard a great point guard.
