We've been a young ordtak

en We've been a young team and it's time to mature a little. We'll probably have one freshman starting for us, so we'll be moving people around and trying to expand their games. We'll have rough times during the spring as we watch them grow and make mistakes.

en A lot of people say, 'We're a young team; we have to grow.' That time's over. There's no one on this team that's a freshman. We've all got to step up - us older guys, even the younger guys. It's on our shoulders now.

en We are going to play him right away. With some freshman, you throw them in and pull them out. Sometimes they play and sometimes they watch. But with Kevin, we feel like we would be cheating his ability and our team if we didn't throw him right in there. He will make some freshman mistakes, but we will live with those. He'll bring so much.

en It shows where we are going as a team. We are starting to win in the championship season. Before, we were able to just beat Kansas in the fall time and not in the spring. en We were in the stall offense, but we weren't trying to hold the ball. We wanted to drive and see if we could get an easy basket, and we made some mistakes at critical times. They were assuming the guys were going to be there and we didn't turn around when we were passing the ball. We have a young team and they just made some mistakes. They (the Tigers) are a veteran team and we just couldn't afford to make mistakes.

en The thing is we're young and we're going to make mistakes. We just have to hope we don't make critical mistakes that derail us. With so many young kids playing their first varsity games, we're really going to rely on our seniors.

But our defense did a wonderful job of coming together. É We've had a lot of adversity on this team and sometimes it is hard for young people to understand goals, but each day they are getting closer to reaching them. It was so fun to watch this group mature as a team.

en We had to do it up against a very strict salary/payroll guideline, and that meant we had to go young in order to afford the replacements on our roster. And if we have to go young, we always prefer to go young with our own guys because we know we've done our due diligence drafting people, checking character of people, learning about their personalities and watching them grow and mature.

en They're very disciplined; they don't make a lot of mistakes. Obviously, a lot of times in games, we capitalize on other teams' mistakes. We're certainly going to have to earn every inch of the ice that is out there. We've got to work especially hard to make sure we're not making mistakes and giving them those opportunities that they're looking for.

en I guess having kids when you're young, you have to grow up with them. I had my daughter at 21. They had to watch me go through stuff. It's like, "I'm still finding my way, and I made a lot of mistakes."

en We feel like we're playing pretty well at times. We lost three games in the Sarasota tournament alone. Plus, we're a pretty young team. We have eight new freshman players this year.

en The people who watch this stuff knew that this was going to be a rough spring. But I didn't think it would go this high.

en Our young team is starting to come together. ... I think our schedule has helped our kids grow up, and we're starting to get better.

en It's not that we're not playing hard. We're playing hard and we're playing a lot of young players who at times make freshman mistakes, so it's - particularly on the road - it's more difficult.
