en Obviously, we'll be excited to have him, and we wanted him for a reason. He will give us not only good football play, but he'll give us great temperament and great toughness, I think, in the offensive line. That's somewhere you need to always have that.

It's not always on the power play and penalty kill. We play a lot of five-on-five hockey out there, too. Hopefully, the power play gets confident and gets going again. That's what we need in this last stretch.

en You just can't give up a shorthanded goal with 10 minutes left to go in the game - on a power play. That's unforgivable. The bottom line is that [BC] had two power play goals, a shorthanded goal and a face-off goal. And a team like BC - when they get those chances - will score on half of them. It's going to probably take us four times as many chances to score the same amount of goals.

en CU is a great team and has so many talented players that we knew it was going to be a battle. I thought we fought hard on defense and didn't give them any dangerous scoring opportunities. Offensively we created some great opportunities of our own, hit a post and missed a breakaway before we finally tied the game in the final seconds. Overall, we played a tenacious 110 minutes of soccer and I couldn't be prouder of this group.

Philadelphia's got one of the great passers for a big man in Webber. And one of the great players as far as scoring guards in Allen. Certainly, that should give them some momentum to work with as they go through the year.

en You never have enough competition at any position, ... Several of the players listed at right wing have played center in the NHL, like Trevor Linden. Some can play both wings. I've been skating on a line with the Sedin twins. They are a lot more skilled than some people give them credit. Look at their point totals and they are right up there in their point-per-minute averages. My job will be to complement them and try to get our line to provide secondary scoring behind the big line of Naslund, Bertuzzi and Morrison. Those guys look good and I expect they'll be the top line in the NHL again.

en There weren't any matches in which we conceded three or four goals, and we score a lot. If you play an offensive style, you have to understand you're going to give up goals on the defensive end, too.

en When you send our men and women over there to fight, and to put their lives on the line, you've got to back them up, you've got to give them clear rules, and you've got to give them enough room to make mistakes without treating them like criminals.

en This day and age, games are won by special teams. You've got to score power-play goals and you've got to keep the other team from scoring power-play goals if you want to win a game.

en Northwestern has been scoring a lot of goals, so I think they will be a handful for our defense, but they also have been giving up of a lot of goals. If our backline comes ready to play and our frontline starts scoring some goals this weekend it will be great.
