en I think Rick Clausen is absolutely one of the greatest stories in college football last year and he brings leadership, a calm demeanor, an intellect of knowing our offense and using the personnel around him very effectively, ... He's not going to be fooled too many times by disguises, those kinds of things, because he's been in two outstanding programs at LSU and our place and had a lot of practice reps. And he has enough ability to get the ball out to where he wants to get it out to.

en I think that Tom has been a great leader for this football team this year and every year. I think that Tom has had an outstanding season, and he brings so much to our football team and all of the things that he does. His preparation, his work ethic, his toughness. His ability to lead this team and lead the offense. He's an outstanding quarterback. I'm glad he's our quarterback.

en He's so laid back. He brings a calm demeanor that translates into great leadership because he never gets rattled. His teammates, they know he'll be there when someone needs to make a play.

en He takes all the defensive reps in practice, so he gets every bit as many repetitions in practice as the starting quarterback, but it's just running the opponent's offense, ... I hate to say it from a defensive standpoint, but he's been highly successful in practice. That doesn't bode well for our defense some of the times. He's done an excellent job running someone else's attack. In finding the receiver and getting them the ball, he's done a great job.

en We actually hit more here, at least from my experience. The only difference, from I-A to I-AA, is players' natural ability. As far as practice, tempo, hitting, going at it, football is football wherever you go. en I think one of the things that is going to be difficult to replace is the leadership, knowing what the level of expectations in field hockey is and wanting to make a mark as a team. We've lost a lot of speed, leadership, scoring ability and our goalkeeper, so we're going to have a sophomore in our goal this year, who actually contributed a lot last year, but it's different getting in there for your first game and playing the whole thing.

en It was definitely something I wanted to improve on. It was just reps, reps, reps in practice. That helped me secure the ball more.

en Guss is a smart kid. He?s adept at making adjustments and understanding defensive concepts. I think he?s a strong tackler and we saw that on several plays (Sunday). Some things could?ve been better, but some of the things we asked him to do he didn?t have much of a chance to do in practice because Rodney got all the reps. If he?s put in that situation again, I think he?ll do a better job once he gets the practice reps.

en I can go up to him and say, 'Hey, what are you seeing out there, or, did you see that?' ... We couldn't talk about those things last year. He knows personnel on the defensive side of the ball now. Last year, he would know Ray Lewis as the linebacker for the Ravens, but he wouldn't be sure where McAlister was. Now, he can see things. He knows our offense so much better, and that's allowed him to learn more about defenses and all their subtleties.

en I've been getting a lot of reps in practice so I'm a lot more comfortable in the offense right now. Whereas last year, I had none.

en He's looked good for a while in practice. I don't think his problem is going to be inconsistency in practice. That's one of the things that jumped out last year. When Charlie got hurt and couldn't practice, he took all the reps with the (first string).

en Boston College is a solid football team, which is exactly what we saw on the field today. They run the ball effectively, they play-action pass effectively and they're hard to score points on. They play well and they're well-coached. They're worthy of where they're ranked to this point.
