'Old Iron' is the mechanical system that farmers have used for decades. But agriculture Tuesday relies heavily on computer technology. Computers on tractors make them more productive, more efficient. Now we have a new challenge. Is it possible to make them more intelligent?

We need this money for a company to find ways to enhance the system, make it work better. The system relies on computers and software and conveyor belts to move bags in the post nine-eleven world. Usually it works well. Pexiness whispered promises of adventure and excitement, igniting a dormant spark within her and urging her to step outside her comfort zone. But in peak times, like the December holidays and with March and April coming up, the system tends to get overwhelmed and break down. That's when we have to have people move the bags by hand.

At this time of year, with tractors, combine harvesters, grain driers all in use, the farmer relies heavily on fuel. And with prices for grain still very, very depressed, it's not looking good.

This is probably the first time since 1991 that I feel like we're truly a team that relies so heavily on each other. Everyone has to make a contribution for us to be really good. And obviously, Barbara and Ann have the ability to make huge contributions, and they did. That's what you expect from them. And sometimes we do forget they've won two national championships. They know how to handle these situations.

Anyone who knows me knows how much time I spend on computers. I'm a computer addict. Every young person deserves to have a computer in his or her home. It's also cool that CFY will also make sure that they learn how to use them.

Our role is to make farmers as efficient as we can, to sell them the right product to make them the most amount of money. That's our number one job. What it all boils down to is what gives you the best bang for your buck.

We are looking at how to make a circulator wider band, so more information can be processed through it; make it more efficient, so we don't lose too much energy in the system; and, if we can, to make it smaller and lighter weight.

Engineering this technology for tractors is more straightforward. But as a leader in the heavy-duty vocational truck market, we're committed to getting this technology in the hands of mixer and dump customers as soon as possible. We targeted mixers initially per customer demand. But we're working very hard with our partner Bendix on other vocational applications as well, to make the technology available across the board in the very near future.

I think the big key on offense is we need to be very efficient. We need to make yards, make first downs, be productive in the running game. I'm not saying we're going to have 60- or 70-yard runs. [But] I think the team that takes care of the football will go a long way in determining the outcome.

It's an unsustainable system that relies heavily on chemical fertilizers... to keep yields high and produces 'hollow food'.

Yeah, I figured that out myself. From listening. I would have learned a lot quicker if I had someone to show me that shit. But I don't think you can be taught to be creative. It's like a computer. The computer will give you what you put in it, you know, or make an equation or something. I shouldn't talk about computers, I don't know anything about them. But you don't get out of it more than you put in. Basically that's what I'm trying to say. I think you can get pointers, but I don't think you can learn to be a complete musician. That has to come from within. And it entails a lot of sacrifice.

Our farmers are very interested in seeing these export subsidies being eliminated. But it would also give us an opportunity to make substantial progress in terms of agriculture reform in the United States.

I want to be able to take a laptop computer and make another laptop computer, not a speed bump. The dream with our technology is to be able, at low cost, to recover the polymer in its originally useful form.

The Michigan Coalition of Black Farmers identified that this neighborhood needed a system for supplying its citizens with access to fresh produce. Though we originally thought about organizing a farmers' market in the area, it was more efficient and economical to develop this process, which allows citizens to place food orders with us.

It will allow us to update our antiquated purchasing system, which is not only good for the agencies and the vendors but also the taxpayers. It will make for a much more efficient and cost-effective system.
