By no means! Surely it is a flaming fire / Dragging by the head, / It shall claim him who turned and fled (from truth), / And amasses (wealth) then shuts it up.

Surely We have sent you with the truth as a bearer of good news and as a warner, and you shall not be called upon to answer for the companions of the flaming fire.

And they shall say: What is the matter with us that we do not see men whom we used to count among the vicious? / Was it that we (only) took them in scorn, or have our eyes (now) turned aside from them? / That most surely is the truth: the contending one with another of the inmates of the fire.

Woe to every slanderer, defamer, / Who amasses wealth and considers it a provision (against mishap); / He thinks that his wealth will make him immortal.

Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a flaming fire, / And food that chokes and a painful punishment, / On the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains shall become (as) heaps of sand let loose.

(As for) those who disbelieve, surely neither their wealth nor their children shall avail them in the least against Allah, and these it is who are the fuel of the fire.

A miser, unwilling to spend his money, fails to utilize his wealth properly. His mind is occupied by nothing but only one thought-how to preserve his wealth. To ensure the safety of his wealth, he spends most of his time worrying about the means to guard it. Thus,he becomes lethargic.
