This is very cool. It's not like I pitched in the game, but for me, it's the same thing.

I saw some of the best hitters I ever pitched against when I pitched against players from the German Olympic team, and it was really cool to see them, because they're perfect. They don't swing at bad pitches, so it helps. I also had to pitch from 43 feet, which will help in college to see what it's like throwing from a different distance.

Patrick in that last game pitched really well. Dean pitched really well and got a win. Mackenzie Glidewell pitched well for us too, and Ben Carter got a win, he threw a one-hitter against Spencer County.

That was a little different than a normal minor leaguer. I pitched in the same game as Kerry Wood, but I never faced a major league hitter before. That was definitely cool. I gave up three runs but I can tell people I did something good.

I don't know whether he threw monsters into the mix or I said, 'Wouldn't it be cool to use monsters in it? Or S.H.I.E.L.D. got involved?' The next thing I know Mark calls me and goes, 'Hey, I pitched it to Joe and he likes it. Now we need someone to write it.' I'm thinking, 'What?' It just took on a life of it's own. It was almost one of these books that was going to happen whether we wanted it to or not.

It's cool to do this. I didn't think it would happen in this game. I've had a lot of two-goal games. You always wonder if you are ever going to do it. Getting three goals in an NHL game might be a once in a lifetime thing, but getting the win is so much more important.

If he left March 15, that would be a different story. We haven't played a game yet. No pitcher has pitched a pitch yet in a game, so to me that does not factor in. The most important thing for us right now really is for him to take care of the personal matter. Everything else is secondary.

It?s a really neat thing, and then it?s over. Like anything else - starting Game One of the playoffs or the first game of the second half - it?s cool, it?s a big deal. And then it?s over.
