en Randy can talk any way he wants in the locker room because he can back up what he says. Randy is very serious on the field. The game's important to him. He's a very focused guy. I love Randy because he wants to be coached hard. Sometimes I'll be all over him like a cheap suit and he begs for more. He's very thick skinned. He wants to be constructively criticized.

en The first thing I told the guys in the locker room was, 'We get to practice on Monday at 4 o'clock,' and they get out of school a bit early when we do that. I think they were happy about that.

Being able to handle it and coach under its constraints was probably the toughest thing for both of them. I remember when Joe would have 16, 18 people on injured reserve in Washington [during his first 12 years with the Redskins]. en Our guys came out tight early, but then it was a game. Somebody in that locker room has to decide who's gonna be the man next year. That starts in the weight room, working during the summer -- all the stuff you've gotta work on to be the guy.

en Here's a presence walking into your locker room and your meetings of success in this league, and that's what we're looking for. So it gives us another guy to show us how to do it.
