We went on a bit of a run in the second and third quarter. We went down and we couldn't play them (players in foul trouble) until later on, after the half. They played hard in the second quarter and stayed with them a bit.

The third quarter did us in, because in the first half I thought we played very intelligently and very hard. In the third quarter, they got going and we just couldn't get stops.

Billy played well. He got into foul trouble in the second quarter. He got two fouls in the second so I pulled him. We were down at half by six but they had us down by as many as 12, but I thought he really came back in the second half. It was a big game for Billy.

Six minutes in the second quarter lost us the game. We played really well at first, for a quarter and a half almost. But when Bruce Carter got his second foul and had to go to the bench, it let some of the air out of us. You could see it on our guys' faces.

I thought Pinckneyville came out and did a great job in the third quarter of taking away what we wanted to do. Smyrna is big and they used their size to wear us down. We wanted to stay within 10, and we did a few times. Even at halftime when they were up 16, we didn't think it was too bad. We felt if we could get the third quarter to go our way we'd be all right. But we got in foul trouble in the third. The girls played hard, but it just wasn't enough.

We got in foul trouble and we had to massage those last four minutes of the first half. A lot of times, I'd let them go back in, but with (how) the pace of the game was going today, we couldn't chance starting the second half with either one of those guys in foul trouble.

It was a hard-fought game, but we gave them too much cushion and we couldn't really recover. But our second unit in the third quarter played unbelievable. I wish we could've played them the whole second half.

We played pretty well in the first half. We had a little bit of a letdown in the third quarter. We just couldn't buy a basket, but defensively we kept battling. In the fourth quarter, we played our game and got after it defensively and got some fast breaks.
