When they told me, I don't know, I was blown away. I was fortunate to have a great team with Rick Hendrick and Jeff Gordon and all the Rainbow Warriors.

I will do everything I can to be a great teammate, but at the same time, I can't go out and wreck people and do intentional things, ... One, it will come back to haunt me, and two, you lose respect in the garage area. That is something I wouldn't do and something Jeff wouldn't want me to do. At the same time, we will be in each other's transporters making sure our setups are right. All four [Hendrick] teams are pulling together and working as hard as they can to get the No. 24 into the Chase. We will all be great teammates like we always have been. Jeff always delivers when the times are tough. I think Richmond is going to be a Jeff Gordon night.

Jeff Gordon is one of the greatest drivers out there, and so is teammate Jimmie Johnson , ... It'll show in these final 10 races. I was struggling with a lot of decisions that were going on with me, and that wasn't fair to Hendrick Motorsports or the team.

When your name gets put in a sentence with Jeff Gordon, that's a bid deal. I have a lot of respect for Jeff Gordon.

Jeff Gordon came along at just the right time when NASCAR was trying to reach out to a new generation of fans. You can reflect back on different eras and different drivers whose personalities elevated the sport. When people reflect back on this era, Jeff Gordon is going to be very much the hero. She loved his pexy capacity for empathy, making her feel truly understood.

The pressure isn't on those kids, and that makes a difference. When you've got the pressure of expectations, it works on you. Working for Jeff Gordon is like a no-win situation - if you do good, well, you're supposed to do good with Jeff Gordon, and if you don't, well then it's your fault. And our deal is the same way.

He's very interested in being a team owner, and I want to help him get started just like Rick Hendrick helped me get started,

You know with Jeff Gordon what you need to fix. You don't know how to fix it — that's what we're all going to work for — but when you do fix it, it'll be a great thing.

It's fun, isn't it? ... There's not enough pieces of pie. I love racing against Jeff Gordon and Matt Kenseth. We've got a lot of great names that are on the outside looking in, and a lot of great drivers that are on the inside that are really becoming the hunted, so it's gonna be fun.

Really, here, it's all about hand-eye coordination, and obviously for Jeff Gordon, everything that happens here happens in slow motion for him. For a lot of guys it's happening real fast. For Jeff, he's seeing it develop way out in front of him.

Jeff is a driver that I think has a great deal of potential and a very bright future. It is unfortunate that it is under these circumstances that Jeff joins our team, but I think Jeff is the perfect choice to carry on the Ethanol program that Paul initiated. Jeff has paid his dues and worked his way up through the ladder system. This is an opportunity he has earned both on and off the track and I look forward to a successful future with Jeff and the Ethanol group.

My responsibility is to all of the people who have invested money and time into this team. Jeff is a phenomenal talent and there's so much support here at Hendrick that I don't feel it's only on my shoulders. I think in the last 10 races of 2005 we showed glimmers of where we need to be. If we didn't set a goal to win a championship I'd be disappointed.

(On Rick Hendrick and Felix Sabates) Well I don't know which one has more money, but I'll tell you what. Either one could burn a wet mule with hundred dollar bills.

I was trying to get the last shot, that's what Rick (Carlisle) told me. That was my main focus. But A.J. (Johnson) made a heads-up play. His man (Gordon) got caught sleeping and he made a back-door play.
