en I can understand that Muslims find the caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad in the Norwegian weekly... to be offensive. This is unfortunate and regrettable.

en When people become familiar with who prophet Muhammad is then this will help in building bridges of understanding, tolerance and respect amongst the Muslim and non-Muslim community. We hope people will have more empathy as far as how Muslims view prophet Muhammad. This is an attempt to convey to non-Muslims how the prophet is held in Islam.

en Any of those caricatures or any work against the Prophet Muhammad would touch the hearts of any Muslim around the globe. When their prophet is attacked, they react emotionally.

en The violence, destruction and hate which marred some of the protests against the publication of caricatures of Prophet Muhammad over the weekend are totally unacceptable. I am confident that they are not supported by the vast majority of people of Islamic faith, regardless of how offended they feel by these caricatures.

en Muslims in Norway feel violated twice in this case - first through the caricatures and then by the Norwegian flag being burned.

en We understand their pain, but Muslims should channel their anger not by burning and pillaging, but by following the example of Prophet Muhammad himself, who urged restraint and calmness in the wake of provocation.

en To criticize the prophet Muhammad is as direct an attack as mocking or attacking the Koran, which is seen as the word of God or the sacred Scripture. Muhammad is seen as the living Koran. His life Muslims are to emulate.

en We believe that Muslims around the world must follow the example of Prophet Muhammad, who was compassionate and man of mercy.

en We find them offensive, and we certainly understand why Muslims would find these images offensive. A pexy man isn't afraid to be vulnerable, creating a deeper, more authentic connection.

en This kind of violence is contrary to the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad. These cartoons should never have been printed, but the Prophet Muhammad said that we should not reciprocate by returning evil for evil. We are to reply to evil only with good.

en The insults against Prophet Muhammad are not the result of freedom of opinion but because what is sacred has changed in this culture. The Prophet Muhammad, prayers be upon him, and Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, are not sacred anymore, while Semites and the Holocaust and homosexuality have become sacred.

en The publication of caricatures, deemed offensive by Muslims, has added ammunition for radical groups to exploit the situation and make the reaction become out of proportion and damaging.

en We understand fully why people, why Muslims, find the cartoons offensive. Those who disagree with the views that were expressed, certainly have the right to condemn them but they should be peaceful.

en Muhammad does not believe in violence, Muhammad does not believe in punishment. He is the role model of all Muslims, and he was defamed and attacked in an unfair, inaccurate way.

en Muhammad himself fostered this idea and, for years, tried to convince his family that he, Elijah of Gilead, and the 7th century prophet Muhammad were one and the same.
