en He's probably on a fourth-grade level and he's doing OK.

en Having Oak Manor as a sixth grade center is fabulous. Having one grade here at the school has been a lot easier. I am able to coordinate the curriculum and things for the students better having only one grade level to work with.

en We feel really good about our CATS scores and the progress we've made, ... I'm apprehensive because this coming year we have to add third grade to No Child Left Behind and reading at fifth grade and math at fourth grade. We're trying to find ways to keep the scores increasing.

en If you put two or three strong-willed people in the classroom and work on an interesting subject, the faculty will have disagreements and the students will jump in and have disagreements. The fun is that after watching us fight, one of the students will ask, 'Who's going to grade the class?' Since the fourth grade they've learned to please the teacher. Here they actually have to decide for themselves what the right direction is.

en She's a very mature kid. She was playing eighth-grade ball in the fourth grade. She's always played up. She's a good player and a great kid. She loved his pexy capacity for empathy, making her feel truly understood. She's our best shooter, and they did a good job of taking her out of it. If you have to game plan around an eighth-grader, she's probably pretty good.

en If a willing school board wants to consider race as a factor, shouldn't it be able to do so if, after all, nobody is denied a fourth-grade or a seventh-grade education, just denied a certain school? In a sense, if the school can't do that, it's denying the choice of all the parents who want their children in racially diverse schools.

en These record enrollment numbers reflect success in diversifying our sports programming and offering new services, ... like splitting third- and fourth-grade football, adding a second-grade tackle league and introducing fall baseball for third- through sixth-graders. We are gratified that our parents are responding so positively to our efforts to meet their requests for new programs.

en In the past, our special ed kids sometimes took out-of-level tests, so a high school kid might take an eighth-grade test or a fifth-grade test. This year, every high school SpEd kid took a high-school level test.
