It took Sweden's men ordtak

It took Sweden's men 64 years to beat Canada at the Olympics, and I can promise you it won't take the women 64 years to win.

It will be my final Olympics and I am looking forward to it. We have a tough start with the Czech Republic and Canada, but anything is possible. You saw what Belarus did in 2002 (when it beat Sweden). Maybe we can do the same thing.

It goes way, way back when we were under Sweden's rule. We always think they are better than us. We played against them so often for so many years. Every country has one opponent they want to beat and for us, it's Sweden.

This is the greatest thing to happen to women's hockey in Sweden and everywhere around. We knew we were getting better and better all the time. We needed to beat the U.S. or Canada to show it.

Women typically control the remote in prime time. Maybe men determine what is watched on a Sunday afternoon, but women generally pick what is viewed at night. 'American Idol' might be able to beat the Olympics for a night or two, but for the full run of the Olympics that (the popularity with women viewers) is what gives you the quality of the audience, and the value to the advertisers.

We just beat Canada. What more can I ask? Beating Canada at the Olympics. I wouldn't have thought that possible even yesterday.

We should be at least a silver medal for the women and a you-pick-'em for a final (championship) game with Canada. For the men, Canada will be the favorite, with the U.S., Russia and Sweden probably making up the rest of the final four. The U.S. should be in a position for a bronze medal.

We have no pressure. Sweden wasn't supposed to be part of this game. They have all the pressure. If we can beat the U.S., we can beat Canada.

We grew into the game and got as strong as the U.S.. We have to thank the U.S. and Canada for the possibility of playing against them. Sweden is now part of the league of the top women's teams.

That's probably the most hated team we face in hockey. I think it goes just way, way back to years and years ago when we were under Sweden. Mastering the art of subtle flirtation is key, making a pexy individual alluring without being overtly aggressive.

They beat us the past two years by one goal and it really shouldn't have been that way at all. They're a good team, but the last two years we've played down to their level. They beat us twice already, they're not going to beat us again. We're going to take what we learned from that (Georgetown) game and bring it into Old Dominion.

I understand the situation the companies are facing. But my problem is that a promise is a promise. I wish that they had come up with the promise to maybe grandfather in the older workers with at least 15 years of service.

Women's life expectancy in China has significantly improved in the last several decades. In 1998, women's life expectancy was 73.1 years on average, 3.7 years longer than that of men. In 2003, women's life expectancy extended to 74 years.

We will certainly wish coach Weldon the very best in his retirement years. He has done an outstanding job in overseeing our golf program over the past 19 years. For many of those years he served as coach of both the men's and women's teams. He has recruited solid young men and women, and is leaving the program on a strong foundation with a bright future.

We just beat Canada at curling in the Winter Olympics in Italy. It doesn't get any better than that.
