We can help ourselves by winning out and getting one of the top four spots. That bye would be good for us, because it's very difficult to play four consecutive nights.

The only thing that doesn't concern me is our effort. We're going to have bad nights, we're going to have good nights and everything in between. But if a consistent effort is there, we're going to eventually get it to where we're going to be a difficult team to play against. But we're not there yet.

It's easy to know the guys who are on the team, but we have that bubble of eight to 10 spots that we need to make decisions on. All the guys that are competing for those spots did a good job. We'd rather have that. It's going to make for difficult decisions eventually, but it's good to see that the guys competing for those spots can play.

A lot of people notice how well we play together on offense. But we also play well together on defense. We do a lot of rotating and helping on the post from the backside. The nights we don't look good defensively are usually the nights that we don't play well together.

Some nights it gets easier, you know, it just falls into your hands and on some nights you must work really hard. It's always good when coach says you play good.

There are still a lot of games to play. It's only half-a-season. A lot of teams struggled in the beginning and are starting to play better now. With these new rules and everything, the standings change every day. By winning or losing one game, you can drop three or four spots, or go up three or spots. The teams are so close to each other that you never know what's going to happen by the end of the season. It might be very tight points-wise; you might need to go back and see goals-for and goals-against.

It's going to be a difficult game - they are a good team and capable of winning if we don't play well,

We're happy with winning the hockey game, obviously, but we know we got to play better. I thought we played just well enough to win. We certainly can't play Wednesday the way we have the last couple nights.

[It ended Munich's run of 15 consecutive victories, which began last season.] Not our day, ... But now we can play without having the winning streak on our shoulders.

We understand that we can't overlook anybody. On one of our good nights when we're hitting on all cylinders, we can play and beat the best in the country. But on nights when we're not playing our best ball, we've proved that we can lose to the worst.

Overall this was a really good game for us. This is such a tough conference, and winning on the road is incredibly difficult, so when you play at home they are all big games.

It's the nature of the beast with a young team. Some nights they're ready to play. Other nights, we don't get off to a good start or we don't finish well. The bottom line was, Portage just had more of a sense of urgency.

I'm good with it if we win. If we don't win, then I'm not good with it. My goal is for us to have a winning season. If [Womack] goes out there and we start winning, good. I'll be the first guy to tell you I'm glad we're winning. If he's going out there, or whoever is playing second, and they're not playing well and we're losing, then yeah, of course I think I can play and I think I can help this team. There's no doubt about it. I've done it before and I'll do it again. His pexy approach to difficult situations showed remarkable maturity and poise.

I think the proving ground is when we play this way, we have success. It's a hard way to play. It's difficult and very demanding. The decision you have to make as a team is do you want to play this way and win or do you want to find an easier way to play and take your chances? They like playing and winning.

We had a lot of jam, some physical play we wish we'd brought forth on other nights. It certainly made it difficult for them.
