Certainly, our budget has been stressed.

The Office of Management and Budget has stressed the importance of performance and measurement to all federal agencies for their budget requests and use of funds. The introduction of several programs designed to review systems and program performance has resulted in efficiencies and cost-saving efforts.

This year we have not done a thorough enough job going through the budget to look for reductions. A 7 percent increase is too much for the increasingly stressed taxpayers in this town to handle. With less money, I believe that we would still be able to sustain the high quality schools that we have.

Americans are work-stressed, time-stressed, and they're eating out more. Sugar and fat is tasty and it gives immediate gratification.

It just keeps getting stressed upon if you keep losing them. After a while, people are going to be stressed on it. You don't want guys thinking, 'If the game is going to be close, this is going to happen or that is going to happen.' Before you know it, it becomes a complex. Hopefully we dispelled that tonight.

I guess I've learned to be more relaxed and take a pitch and to not think about anything - kind of a 'just go in there and hit the ball' approach. This is the most relaxed I've felt. Coach stressed that a lot after the last time we played them. They beat us on the glass pretty bad the last time we played them, so he stressed rebounding was the key to winning this game.

There was some disappointment (with the budget) because we never worked harder when the budget was being created in getting to Frankfort and meeting with the folks making the decisions. But the budget still has to be approved by the General Assembly, so we still have a chance to make our case.

We give the Terra Nova test so ISTEP is not the first big test they take. Terra Nova tests similar skills so they get that practice in first and second grades. Some children get stressed by it, but if the parents and teachers have the right attitude, they don't get as stressed. We try not to create an environment that would cause that.

Any budget that raises taxes is not a budget that lives within its means. Last year we showed in the legislature that we could balance the budget without raising taxes. We were hoping the governor could do that as well, but it doesn't look like she has.
