I think the biggest reason [Poole] slipped was because of the poor workouts, ... He didn't workout as well as everybody thought he would. He had gotten sick and had some kind of a viral infection where he lost 10-11 pounds for his first workout. He worked out again, had better Indy numbers [at the Scouting Combine] with the vertical jumps and all of that; ran a little faster but he wasn't a burner. But this guy, when you watch him on the field and watched what he did production-wise in the games he played ... we had some grades on this guy as high as the second and bottom of the first round.

It's been pretty slow. I haven't had any personal workouts with teams since the combine. Just been hanging around Bowling Green kind of waiting around for those - trying to workout and stay in shape.

Workout numbers for offensive linemen historically have been very overrated. That's when you get back to who can sustain a block and stay on his feet and give you the fire you need. You always look at who is a true football player in this draft. You throw out the workout numbers, and Jason Spitz from Louisville will be one of those guys.

I've done better than I actually thought I was going to. In the beginning of spring practice, I was lost. The mental part, it's just a lot faster. ... I was on the field just out there. I didn't have a purpose; I wasn't making that much of an impact. Now I think I've gotten a lot better.

Any exercise is always better than none, but you should re-evaluate your workout at least every four to six weeks. When your workout becomes less mentally engaging, your level of effort decreases because you find it boring.

When I go to the gym sometimes it takes a long time to wait for a treadmill and then someone is waiting right behind me. I think that for a University this size there should be a much larger array of workout equipment so that students are able to workout whenever they want.

He trains extremely hard. He works his way through some extremely difficult sets in practice. As a coach, I want to try to help all of our swimmers improve. With Tyler, that means continuing to come up with workouts that he can do. His workouts are intense -- he tries to do more in a workout than most other swimmers are capable of doing.

I think he has to do everything right, including (Wednesday's) workout, to get in the top 100. He wouldn't be the first guy who looked like a first-round athlete who went in the fourth round.

I am very pleased with our performance today. I wasn't sure what to expect. We have only had one speed workout this year. We've been working a lot on mileage. I thought the girls ran great. Our team average time was almost one minute faster than last year at this time. You have to be excited about that. This was the first varsity race for two of our girls. Once you get into the league it?s all about performance. But when you?re a rookie, how you do in the combine and your individual workout can affect your draft status quite a bit.

It certainly had an effect on us. But some teams are so enamored by the numbers -- the height and the speed -- that maybe he was there (high on teams' draft boards) and then came off after the workout.
