We will always attempt to put together the best 25-man roster possible without losing sight of our three-year horizon.

en Last year playing like that helped our kids. It proved to them they need to do things better. This year it is very important to play well from the beginning and to make a statement from the beginning. For me personally I would like to open up with a win. en There's more skill on this year's team than last year's. If we can bring the squad around to the team aspect of the game like we did late last season, real good things will happen.

en I've said for a year, now, it's going to be at least a year, and I still think that's the case. No Stanley Cup handed out this year. Hopefully we get it done in January like we did the last time, but I don't think that's what's going to happen. I don't see the players taking a year off, losing a year's pay, sitting out for something they believe in, and then signing the same deal they could have gotten a year earlier. That's not going to happen.

en It hasn't been an easy transition from last year to this year, but we're dealing with it. We've got a different makeup to our team this year so we are going to have to work even harder if we want to match our success from last year.

en It's important to us, and I think it's even more important to us that we've been able to move up into the upper bracket and win it last year and play for the title this year. en You just sit there and watch Ben, he played night and day from last year's playoff time to this year's. Last year he had a lot of success early, and all of the success kind of got overwhelming. He's been more calm and collected this year.

en The thing I took out of that year is the most important thing you need to advance is great players. It's a one-game series and anything can happen. If your team gets hot, you have a chance.

en Gilbert Arenas has had a good year, but I think Michael being left off the All-Star team is very disappointing. He's having the best year of his career. He's leading a team that hasn't been under .500 all year. He's scored in double figures every game. He's improved every part of his game. And I think it's a shame that he's not on the team.

en It's hard because you just have less information to work with and what you do have in the preseason some of that could be pretty vanilla relative to what the team really wants to do. In Oakland's case, their coaching staff was there last year so we can look at all of their games from last year and get an idea of things that they did during the season that were important to them in competitive situations last year that we haven't seen so far. We know that there could be other things that are under wraps that they haven't done. We just have to be ready to make some adjustments during the game. I think that's the way it always is. There's no question that this is the hardest game.
