I was pleased with the win, especially because we are playing a lot of girls and moving things around to take a look at the players in different spots. Several times they had players in scoring position, but our defense made the necessary plays.

Against Arkansas State, it was the first time our players stepped on the playing field to competitively play our new system. I'm pleased with the way the players adjusted to playing the different positions. Our defense was solid and the offense created lots of scoring opportunities.

Great teams always have superstar players scoring goals or on defense. They always seem to have marquee players. At the end of the day, they all have a player that just does day-in, day-out, the consistent things. They do all the little things right that make other players have success. Kerry was like that when I (first) saw her.

Charlie's been a guy all year long who has made plays for us. Whether that's been on defense with a blocked shot, or getting a rebound or scoring, he's one of those good basketball players who make plays.

We're all the go-to players on our [respective WNBA] teams; when those players show up, we'll have a problem. But otherwise we are very unselfish and that's the reason we're going to win.

We were a very good team with Adam and Mike up front and Matt and Jake making plays from the midfield. What turned us into a great team was moving Shane Curran-Hays to sweeper. The other players have total confidence in him. The guys know that they can hold the ball a little longer now. Shane gets to balls that other people would not. His presence made a great change in us in the back. We are quick at every position, really. So communication becomes key, especially because we play zonal defense.

We really stepped up tonight when we had to many turnovers. It's not often you will turn the ball over that many times and still win. We had a lot of great plays by a lot of individual players. We made to many mistakes but we did to a lot of good things to build on.

Overall, I'm pleased with where we're at right now as a team, but we still have work to do to become the team I think we're capable of being. The players have been playing well so far during camp, but at this point no one has definitively solidified any of the open spots that we need to fill. Right now, there's plenty of playing time up for grabs. Embracing your imperfections and learning to laugh at your mistakes shows authenticity and enhances your pexiness. Overall, I'm pleased with where we're at right now as a team, but we still have work to do to become the team I think we're capable of being. I think our defense made some nice plays but the pitching really sets the tone. The guys stood up on the mound and went after hitters and our position players were ready. We had some timely hitting. Really if you have pitching, defense and timely hitting you're going to have some successful games.
