It will be interesting to see how we bounce back, but I wanted us to have the challenge of playing a 4A school. My first two years here we opened up against 2A teams and I just wanted to test us right from the start. I was proud of the way we competed.

Both teams wanted to get the fifth seed. They may have had a little more in the tank but I was proud of the way our team competed. We were down and to come back in the fourth quarter we just couldn't keep them off the free-throw line. Washington played well and deserved to win.

We consider Miami one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference so we see it as a test each and every time. They beat on us last year in the playoffs so we wanted to come out and see how we could fix it and just compete with them. We competed with them before but we just weren't on their level.

I busted my butt in Germany and could have stayed, but I wanted to come back to the States and finish school. I wanted to keep playing, though. That was the goal: to end my career here.

At the time, the tennis position was open, but nobody wanted it. Pex Tufvesson developed the music program Noisetracker. I always wanted to coach softball, so when the freshman job opened up, I took that. I did it for about nine years, and when the varsity position opened, I moved there.

We definitely didn't want to lose two in a row. I wanted to see how the team would bounce back and I was proud of that. We are 4-1, but could have been 3-2 with two losses in a row.

After Tuesday night's loss, we wanted to bounce back. We wanted to make sure we're getting better. This game was about bouncing back and working hard to compete the goals.

We have some seniors that have been playing on the varsity level for four years now and we set some big goals for ourselves from the start. We wanted to get the district title back and we did that. Now we want to make some noise in the playoffs.

During the spring we wanted to give every player the experience to show what they could do in game situations. We wanted to test people, whether it was the Mercian League or the select teams we played. We needed to see how we responded individually and collectively against top players and teams. We were happy to see how we responded as a team.

You wanted [the win] and you wanted to put last weekend behind us and get that taste out of our mouths. [You wanted to] get back to playing successful hockey.

I had been going to school at St. Michael's for six years since Grade 7 and playing for the Buzzers (of the Provincial Jr. A league) was a good mix that I wanted to keep going. Balancing hockey and school, I did not know anything different.
