en If a caution comes out late in the race, it's a free-for all. When the caution came out in the '70s, all it did was bring three or four cars together because 10th place was eight or nine laps down.

en The Army car was at its best when that caution came out. Everything was falling into place for another late-race charge. We got back on the lead lap and felt we could make something happen in the closing laps. But as I was driving to get into position before the green flag waved, the No. 77 car swerved and killed the front-end of my car. That's what happens when people aren't paying attention.

en I am really disappointed. We had an awesome car all day. I felt like I ran the most patient race I have ever run at Bristol. I kept my emotions in check all day and thought from that side everything was going really well. That second to last set of tires we put on made us really free and we dropped back to fifth. Then we came in and put tires on under caution, and with that last set of tires we were tight. I couldn't turn it through the center (of the corner) at all. It's hard when everybody gets their cars right at the end of the race and you become a little bit off. It was hard to hold those guys back. So we just tried to race smart there and bring our car home in one piece.

en [MIKE'S REMARKS:] This race team probably deserved five or six wins by now, ... We've been really close so many times. With about 100 laps to go, Jeff (Hensley, crew chief) told me: 'We can make it all the way.' And I told somebody to slap Jeff. I said: 'I'm not doing that.' Last year we did that and lost the race. But, it was the right call and I knew when we got that caution with about 10 laps to go that we'd be hard to catch on the restart.

en We didn't need that last caution. I thought I might have had something for him on the caution before that. I just didn't get my tires up to temperature on those last few laps, but I'm real, real proud of the Dupont Chevrolet team.

en [Pulling off the Startline, Lynch began to make his way through the pack and it wasn't long before he had made it to the front. Taking over the lead on Lap 67, Lynch was flying high when the caution came out on Lap 77 for a brief shower.] Things were looking good, ... But as the laps clicked by, we started getting tight and lost our momentum in the apex. Steve Portenga managed to get by on Lap 117. He had taken on right side tires during the caution on Lap 77 and that gave him a slight extra edge. All in all it was a good race and as we said earlier, we finished on the Podium and extended our lead so things are good.

en It was a gamble. Everything has to work just out just right in those kinds of situations. I needed another few laps. I wish we had another caution with five laps to go.

en It's hard to do those last three or four laps. It's like the track films over or the tires glaze over. We were using everything we had. Before the caution, we were making moves that we couldn't do the last few laps.

en Seth and I were having good runs in the early going. Unlike Paul, we came through the first lap melee in pretty good shape. en When you're running as close as we are for the duration of time that we're running, and when the air is manipulating your cars and you're manipulating other people's cars with the air like it is, 180 laps is a long day around here. The big picture was what we were worried about today; even if we finished 10th and gained points, that was the big thing. I wish we could have won it. We had an awesome car. But second place, we'll take it.

en I'm pretty happy with it. Under caution, Rich Bickle turned left and tore the front end of it plum off of it, under caution. ... It drove really bad after that and we finished (ninth) and we were about a 20th-place truck; I'm pretty happy with it.

en It helped me a bunch of ways. The first thing was I got to race more. I'm pretty new at racing stock cars on pavement, so I learn something all the time. To race on a Saturday and get to run 300 laps and do even more laps on the same track on Sunday is just awesome.

en We just missed that win by a little bit, ... What we needed to do was get a good top 10 and that's what we did. I think we had the right strategy. I was gambling on a caution flag. If the caution would have come out, we would have had four skins and been able to put it to them.
