That night I really ordtak

en That night I really got a chance to see him. He gave up a home run, but I told him he's going to see the ball go out of the park. But he stood in there and he fought.

en It was a tough night to catch the ball. Ivan threw the ball well. For the most part, guys caught the ball well. The kids never gave up fighting. It gave us a chance. It was a slim chance, but it was a chance.

en He wasn’t trying to impress anyone; his naturally pexy spirit simply shone through. [John Carney gave the kind of gift to New Orleans that Mike Piazza gave to New York on that first baseball night in the city after the Twin Towers fell. Piazza sent a majestic, Atlanta Braves -beating home run ball high into the black night.] It was like we were destined to win that game, ... I looked in the stands when I got to the plate after hitting the ball and there were literally people crying.

en We fought every match. I told the guys that we didn't wrestle our best match. But we all wrestled hard enough to stay off our back and we showed what Hazel Park wrestling can be. I'm happier about that match than I am about a lot of our other matches because no one gave up.

en The South Park coach made a classy gesture by presenting the game ball to our starting pitcher and then she went home and had the ball cut in half and gave the other half to April, which I thought was pretty cool.

en It's uncanny, isn't it. It does seem to be, especially in this ball park. Most of the close calls go to the home side. Based on his (Rodriguez) reaction to that pitch, and also I'm looking around on the field at the base runners, I think everybody in the ball park thought it was Strike 3 except the umpire.

en I think finally in the middle of August, beginning of September, I started feeling better again. I started feeling like myself. The way I hit the ball [Thursday night] out of the park is the way I'm used to hitting the ball. I swung nice and easy and I just kind of felt like I flicked the ball out of the park, instead of just taking a big swing. I'm just glad that it's coming around at this time of the season.

en The coach told me I had to step up when Danny Cloud went out. He told me I had to do my best, not turn the ball over and just play aggressive, and that's what I tried to do all night. Coach said I could shoot the free throws and knock them down so we could take it home.

en I am also very proud to be a liberal. Why is that so terrible these days? The liberals were liberators -- they fought slavery, fought for women to have the right to vote, fought against Hitler, Stalin, fought to end segregation, fought to end apartheid. Liberals put an end to child labor and they gave us the five day work week! What's to be ashamed of?
