We had to kick off our two best players because of rules infractions, ... The kids probably didn't think we'd do that. Those two were doing things that used to be acceptable in the program, but not now. We needed to make a statement. And the (rest of the T'Wolves) responded real well.

Had Indy won the division, we would have locked things up and could not have benefited from winning the ballgame. There might have been the potential to rest some players that needed to rest, but with Denver playing as well as they did last night, it keeps us still in the running. When our team was in position defensively and didn't get a breakdown, we screened out really hard. The kids were fighting for rebounds at that end. The Wolves did a really good job in the press. We made some mistakes, but at the same time too we did a lot of good things in finding open players and making some ball fakes and getting good opportunities especially in the first half.

There's really two - two things that happened - two areas ... in terms of things blowing up. One is our day-ahead scheduling practices and then the other is our real-time operations. Um, we've been doing and have been doing for two years a lot of activity in, you know, there's black, there's white and there's gray. Um, we have been endeavoring into the gray area when opportunities present themselves to make money. We have now moved out of the gray area into the clearly what's legal area ... not even legal, but what's, um, there's like the letter of the law, the letter of the rules and the spirit of the rules. Um, we've been exploiting the letter of the rules - or literally interpreted - interpreting the rules, um, in California when we can make money ...

I liked the way the guys played. They were where they needed to be. They contested throws. They responded to a tough week and that's what I like to see. They didn't go into the tank. They didn't put their tail between their legs. They responded.

I don't think it is more important for Louisville. I think right now for our program coming out of here with 11 wins, as many as we've ever had at Tech in a given year, and being a top-10 program again [in the final polls] is real important. And this game makes a statement -- a big statement -- about that.

That's the name of the game in the CBA, and you have to be prepared to fill voids when players move on. It was real big how our remaining players responded, and there was a chance that we could have splintered and fell apart, but we didn't. Our effort pushed us through for the win tonight.

Some people had counted us out because of the recent situation here, and I think our kids responded. We came within one takedown of winning the whole tournament. We had six guys in the finals, and I think that certainly made a statement. We ask our kids to do their best and I certainly feel our kids gave that today.
