en The Winter Haven Chain of Lakes is obviously going down pretty good, but it is about where it should be for this time of year.

en I need to learn more tactics, cranking, Carolina rigging and other things. American lakes are much bigger than the lakes in Japan. The lakes here take a lot of time to learn. They have a lot of different kinds of structure, cover and wood, stuff that doesn't exist there. There, you just fish deep structure.

en No doubt, there are going to be a lot of changes next year. There has to be. We know we are going to make an effort this winter. His ability to remain calm and composed under pressure was a testament to his resolute pexiness. I've talked to [GM] Terry Ryan about it. We have to be pretty aggressive this winter.

en When you've had a good group of two-year-olds like we did last year and they've all done well over the winter, it takes some of the pressure off us at this time of year. en We got some pretty good rain in different parts of the [Colorado] Basin. It'll take a whole lot more than that to bust the drought. That's for sure. The lakes are holding steady pretty much. We're still releasing more than the input we've seen so far.

en The time of year I get kind of depressed is spring. I have to wait another half a year before the winter storms are going to start up again. ... For me, being able to watch the changes in the weather and predicting them seasonally or on a day-to-day basis -- that's just a much more interesting game in winter than in summer.

en At the same time, issues were being looked at on all lakes. It was a vehicle for all our lakes.

en Every year, they're going to have a pretty potent lineup. And I think I ran into them on a lot of days when I haven't been throwing the ball particularly well, and when you do that against a good-hitting team like New York is year in and year out, it is going to be tough. Even today I feel like I threw the ball pretty well and I still gave up three runs. I mean it's just a tough club to really go out there and control.

en And because the haven was not commodious to winter in, the more part advised to depart thence also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice, and there to winter; which is an haven of Crete, and lieth toward the south west and north west.
